I am looking at getting an S&S disaster prevention kit and I'd like to see if anyone has still lost their entire fuel system with one installed. Thank you for reading and thanks for any replies.

I just installed a S&S kit on my 2012. I had the kit for awhile and waited until I did a Turbo swap to instal the kit. I did screw up on the purging of air from the fuel lines, but it started and ran for a few seconds. Long enough for me to love the new sound that the Turbo gives the truck, but it shut down and no matter how many times I purge the low pressure side it will not run. And until I get a new hardline to replace the one I cut I won't be able to put it back to stock to see if that fixes it.

If I had done more research into what caused the cp4 failure. Which now I have learned is the low Sulphur fuel that we use -poor lubrication.
I would just add 2 cycle oil next time and not mess with the kit. I had a Ford Tech tell me more than half the trucks that he sees that come in not running after a kit install never run again with that cp4.

I ran 2cycle in my 99 Cummins for years to protect the vp44 and it worked great. So once my 6.7 is running again thats what I'm going to do.

I had an SPE kit and my CP4 failed. Saved the injectors, but their return screen blew right through so I needed all new return side parts. Went with the S&S gen2 kit and feel a lot better running it over the SPE.

Any kit that will point the return back to the fuel tank should greatly help with pump failures -- the engines I work with use the CP4 pump and I have only seen 2 failures in several years running -- the main difference being that the return is ran back to the tank, so any metal particles will get caught in the fuel filters, rather than recirculated back into the pump inlet.

Definitely with the CP4 and this stuff we have as fuel, you need an additive for lubricity

2 stroke motor oil isn't going to help your 6.7L injectors or fuel system as much as in the past. I tried 2 stroke motor oil long ago and it's just not as efficient as Power Service, Howe's, or Stanadyne used in the fuel. Sure 2 stroke oil worked great on the older style injectors/fuel systems....it's just not as good for the modern HPFP as you would think.

I'm willing to say try it for your own experiences. Run a few tanks with 2 stroke oil, then run a few tanks with something like Power Service. The difference will show itself to prove to you what your motor wants to use.
