Is there a CAT or another equivalent to the Amsoil Oil Bypass EABP100-EA filter?

You would need to be sure the threads are the same. Otherwise change the housing adapter to fit the new filter.
Just looking to get something cheaper, if possible. If not, then, it's fine. I'd like to get about 10-20 to keep on the shelf at home. I wasn't sure if anyone already tried to source this out or not.

Those filters could easily go 65k miles from what I gathered in all my research. Not to mention that's about what they recommend for a service interval. Ran the 90 on my 6.0L....I would drain the filter element at every change, then replace the filter itself once a year.

10-20 filters....That would be like 900k miles using 15 filters.........

I didn't realize that, I thought they were to be exchanged once a year. Maybe I need to review this again. I didn't think about draining it out, either.

Haha, yeah, it's a high number of filters, but I want enough for the lifetime of my truck, I don't like having to get one every time I need one.

At the time I was running the Amzoil kit I was easily going 30k+ a year.
Just by 10 filters, get the best price. That will be plenty unless you want to go the full 60k+ on them. Maybe then just buy 5 filters. That would be 25-30 years worth of filtering for you......just sayin'

25-30 years... [emoji1787]

Where were you buying your filters from?

It definitely should, I was just laughing about the length of time in comparison to the filters. But, that's definitely why I want as many as I do. My other truck is just now 40 years old ('80) and I've got components stashed for it that have become harder to find as of now. So, I'm glad I did the very thing I'm trying to accomplish, now. As it tends to be very convenient in the long run.

Yea....I did sort of the same thing. I just did it year to year for the most part.

Of all the sales hype over in Azmoil world the by-pass filters are up and up. Plenty of other people testing and using them report the abilities are on point. On a 6.0L the oil filtering is key to a long injector life. So using the by-pass, swapping the filter once a year for the cost was WAY too easy to do. On my oil change intervals I would drop the by-pass filter, let it drain to the pan, then reinstall it. Once a year replace it...done deal.

On most newer trucks there is no oil used for the injectors so I think it's not as big a deal. I would love the Amzoil kit if I could use the OEM main filter instead of their filter.

You're right, @ $40 year to save injectors, it's easy enough to just replace, even if it does last longer; sure is cheaper than a new set. So, that's what I've been doing.

It would def be cheaper if you could go OEM and change per or every other oil change, for sure. Just seems like the life of the Amsoil filter isn't being reached, but don't care to push that number, either.

I would always change the OEM filter at every change. I try to run 7,500 mile intervals at max. If I'm at home and can do it at 5,000 miles I do so.

Remember the Amzoil by-pass filter is filtering a very small amount of oil when the engine is running. I think someone or maybe I did the math for the "flow rate" thru the by-pass filter. The time to filter was something like you needed to run the motor for a few hours to have passed all the oil thru the by-pass filter once. I can't recall specifically.

I meant OEM in place of the Amsoil filter. But, what would the point of that be now that I think of it. The OEM is a 20 micron filter where the Amsoil is a 2 microns, I don't think anyone else is going to offer that level of protection.

I recall seeing somewhere that it filters at least once an hour at idle. It claims to only take 10% of the sumps oil at any one time.

Full flow filters and by-pass filters are constructed differently. OEM full flow is 20 micron....Amzoil by-pass is 2 micron.

Try to run that 2 micron on the full flow side and you are asking for problems. Amzoil has a full flow filter, but why pay more for that when the OEM filter does the same thing with the same micron rating.
