AFE Bladerunner, now P2073 code

Hey all. I could use some help diagnosing an error code.

I have a 2011, fully deleted 6.7 running SCT GTX with Tyrant SOTF tune that has ran great for past year. Recently, I installed an AFE Bladerunner intercooler pipe to get rid of the stock plastic pipe known to crack and fail. During install, I also cleaned the soot built up on the throttle valve. Since then, I have been getting a check engine light due to P2073 code for Manifold Absolute Pressure/ Mass Air Flow - Throttle Position Correlation at Idle.

So far I have performed the following to no resolve:
-- verified all connections were correct
-- verified no leakage
-- found soot deposited on MAP sensor, cleaned & reinstalled
-- replaced MAP sensor
-- cleaned MAF and IAT sensors

Still getting CEL. What else can be setting this off? Any ideas on a fix? I could change MAF, but I really don't think it's bad. I just think there is a calibration/correlation is off by a little bit at idle. Suspect intake is now flowing a little more air. Is there a process to reset or re-calibrate the MAF?

I'd make sure the throttle valve is operating properly. I would remove it and check it to be sure you didn't cause any binding when cleaning the plate/internals.

Consider that was the only part you really touched on the initial work to install the AFE pipe.

I'd otherwise guess that MAYBE somehow there is a tuning issue since the piping might have "gained" some airflow causing the parameters to be off. You could try seeing if there is an option inside the GTX that allows you to reset the tables inside the PCM.

Have you tried to reload the tuning file you have been using??

Just getting ideas out there as to what I would be trying if it were my truck.

HeavyAssault, I’m with you. I thinking my next step is to remove tube and recheck throttle valve to make sure I didn’t knock it out of place while cleaning. From what I’m told, it needs to remain at 100% open position.

I’ve seen a couple mentions on web about resetting MAF, but never any instructions on how to. Guessing it requires dealer like scan tool. Anyone know what normal MAF sensor at idle?

There isn't a reset function for the MAF through the GTX. Might have to use forscan and see if you can reset it through that.

Cause/Solution

One of my greatest pet peeves is when a forum member never reports back when they found the solution. So I will not do that to you. Here is what I found.

CAUSE/SOLUTION: P2073 code was being sent because a slight mismatch in calculated vs. actual airflow. Suspected there must have been some air leaking somewhere between MAF and intake. The cause was slight leakage around the temperature sensor o-ring. Common with some aftermarket intercooler pipes, the port for the sensor is machined too large and the sensor + o-ring had a loose fit. Replace with thicker o-ring and CEL and P2073 code are gone. FIXED! Hope this can help someone else in the future.
