Have an 18 xlt I want to add a remote start to. Looking for the most reliable and affordable one. Seen videos on 12 volt solutions. Are these good systems? Anything better out there. Thanks for the suggestions

DEI products like Viper or Compustart (has plug n play for newer vehicles) are VERY popular. I had a big thread where many users guided me to DEI products particular viper systems just haven't gotten to the install shop-there 2hrs away. but many many powerstroke users love the system.

JustinOOO9 I have a Viper on my 06 and while it beats a blank it take sometimes 2 cycles (3-4 total attempts) before mine will start. I now have a 19 and they are adding the remote start for free and I'm selling my 06 so the Viper will go with it. Good luck with yours. Maybe they have gotten better since 2014 when this model was installed.

I went with Viper on my 2004 F350 and have had no problems with the system. The installer originally allowed for a 20 second (glow plugs) delay which was ridiculously long and I slimmed that down to 6 seconds which works fine for Arizona.

If you decide on using Viper, I suggest you don't go with the top-of-the-line remote (color display) because it's a bit clumsy to use. I have Viper with the standard LCD screen remote on my Raptor and it's much more user friendly. A color screen really doesn't have much to do with anything related to starting a truck...lol.

I had it included as an add on when I bought the truck after we settled on final price. It's the factory add on. No extra fobs. I HAVE had to dial back the sensitivity day by day for the shock sensor. Big trucks and Harleys set it off as the drive by my driveway (truck is like 10' from the street). Also ordered a $10 led to add so there's also a visual deterrent.
