This is the situation. I had the "non-serviable" plug pop out while on a trip, along with the edge filter and check ball. Check ball was missing, but i found the plug and the edge filter in the parking lot when I broke down (engine just idling and it blew out). Towed it home, took out the pump and resealed a different pump.

BUT I have never seen a check ball and thought it was the small stainless BB on the overflow plug. I took out the small stainless BB from a spare pump and dropped it foolishly into the "non-serviable" plug hole, put in the edge filter and the plug and sealed it all up, put it in the truck and no start.

So I took it out yesterday, and couldn't find the small stainless BB. I'm worried it's not in the oil pan. But not much I think I can do to check. I dont know if it went through to the injectors because of those springs on the output ports of the pump. Do you have any ideas?

This guy does a pretty good job of explaining how those check balls go in the HPOP

I understand now how big the check ball is for the non-serviceable plug, maybe 1/4" dia. What Im asking is, Where would you guess the 1/8" SS dia. ball I tossed into the pump is located after a few cranks with no start, still in the pump? I've cleaned it out the best I could and no luck finding it.

When you tear it all down, post a picture of where you find the ball -- everything else is just a guess -- you may get lucky and "dump" the ball out of the pump housing, or who knows
