6.7 twin kit

Want to ask a little bit about twins on a 6.7. I've seen a few done but I did a little reading and came to find out industrial and spe pulled their kits. I come from owning two lmm duramaxes and it was nothing to build the trans( also wondering about that on these 6.7s) and throw a s475 over stock for some good reliable power. Why is it that this isn't done on these trucks?

They make too much low end torque which causes your rods to bend like a cheap metal spoon when eating kraft dinner.

Quote of the week...

6.7s are a lot weaker on the bottom end than 6.0s and 6.4s... That's why you can push 800-900hp on a 6.4 before you even need to worry about the bottom end as long as you have pistons, studs, cam, etc...

The 6.7 is very capable but you will need to build the bottom end. That said, the heads and the valve train are a MUCH better design. I am still a little iffy on the transmissions, they don't see to hold up as well as the 5r110W at all. But that said, any time you start pushing 650-700hp you can expect a tranny rebuild.

Anything you will have to do to a duramax to make it reliable with true twins you will have to do with the 6.7psd. And turbo wise, if you are going that far all you need to do is contact vendors on here. Most know the right people to get you what you want be it tunes or hard parts. Our vendors and supporters here on the .org are a big reason why our community is the size it is.

:buttkick: Go back to your corner...

That reminds me though, a local truck group her in MN just had a debate on FB over the "worst" diesel pickup...

OFC the usual was the 6.0 then people saying the LB7 because of injector problems and then obviously the 6.2 and 6.5 diesels.

Not a single person out of 290 replies ever mentioned the 6.4 until I did...

But we came to a conclusion on the best lol. The 7.3 based purely on sound :p

My goal for the moment is to get between 5 and 600(for the moment). The reason I wanted to do twins rather than a big single is I was always under the assumption that they have faster spool time and better for normal driving. Goal is to have a quick street truck maybe track it a little bit nothing insane tho. But I'm taking from you guys that rods are the main issue here so with upgraded rods I'd be solid? Then I also run into the while I'm in there debacle haha. Thanks for the replies guys I'll keep trying to research what's going to be best for me.

You are damn close to 500hp as it is... The bottom end can hold 600 without a lot of trouble at all. I am not saying you won't pay to play... Any time you add fuel, timing, and boost you end up with a lot more cylinder pressure. That will take its toll on the entire motor, doesn't matter if you have a psd, cummins, or duramax.

But the 6.7 is more than capable of doing what you want with stock rods... Your transmission will probably give out before the motor.

Sweet I see this http://spediesel.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=7902 it says 15 "style" turbo tho. Should i do direct swap or find a kit along these lines?

Also I thought the trans was a lot stronger on these trucks than what you just stated. Not trying to say you're wrong in 100% new to the power stroke but I just thought I had read that they held a lot before.

Just pick up the dual fueler Kit minus the pump from H&S and that CP3 will bolt right up and get a 65.5 street max from Midwest diesel and you'll be over 600 to the wheels...

I'm not sure why so many people say The 6r140 is weak. The 6r140 trans is quite a bit better than the 5r110. H&S pushed their shop 2011 6.7L with stock 6r140 to 9**hp and over 1700ft/tq. In their breaking point test. Trans slipped for very short time, then TC locked and trans never slipped again. The stock Allison in Their 2011 duramax was slipping @ 500 hp.... They through a built ats in before doing the breaking point where they windowed the block @ just over 1,000hp

Can you do the 15 turbo install without lifting the cab? That was another reason I was looking towards twins easy install.

Trans looks a little cheaper to build than an Allison also just the couple sites I looked at real fast.

Can I still get ahold of duel fuelers from h and s? I heard they shut the doors

It along with the 12v were what we all want with a diesel... The problem came with emissions. Simple as that.....
