Banks power release Derringer tuner for 6.7 Powerstroke! New video on banks power YouTube channel featuring tuner shoot out!

@jetjock15 this might be something for you to check into if you'd rather not lose the weight right now. Banks is a salesman, but he's also pretty smart and they seemed to have really researched their setup.

Banks also set the land speed record with a 6.7L power stroke on E-20 fuel (20% bio diesel), they are pretty much the authority on 6.7L performance modifications, sadly they don't have jack available or in development for the 2016 power strokes.

oops! Thanks for the catch.

I should get installed tomorrow. I will let folks know for sure. Living in California I am very limited to what I can do or having to put everything to stock every two years, which on a full weight loss I don’t think I want to do that.

I got the Derringer installed today, pretty straight forward. I drove the truck for about 20 minutes. What I noticed in the short drive. The transmission shifts feel better, not hard but they felt a little firmer. The instructions do say the trans will have to relearn a bit. There definitely is more power when you get on it. If just cruising everything is the same or feels that way. When the truck is cold it will not add power until it reaches about 120. So far I like it and will drive more and let you guys know.

Good to know it doesn't add power if the truck is cold, kind of makes it idiot proof for well....the idiots out there that start it up, and hammer down first thing.

Anymore review on this? This interests me but all these tunes messing up transmissions makes me nervous. Also anyone towed with this unit yet? And how is the gauge? I’m kind of bummed how small it is as I’m used to my cts2.

Sorry guys I finally have driven the truck for some miles. First off I am happy with the performance. I have driven mostly on power level 3 and a little bit on 6. There is a difference. The truck feels like it pulls harder when getting on the freeway or passing somebody. The turbo lag seems to have gone away when applying a nice easy steady throttle. It is hard to explain but the power seems to be consistent through the rpm range. I have never driven a truck on a complete weight loss but I would expect the Derringer will not have the same results. My regen went normal and the soot buildup percentage seems to be the same as stock. The I Dash gauge is cool, but small. It has some cool features but have not played with it too much. I am happy with the purchase. I am wanting to tow something and see the results. I will be picking up my boat soon however it does not weigh too much. I think this is a good option for those that want a little more power but would like to keep the truck as is or live in a state like mine, CA. Please feel free to ask questions.

There was one thing I did not like with I Dash. I was driving hey 5 and got on it just because and the I Dash kept flashing with an orange box that said speed. This did not go away until I was down to about 80. I am sure it can be disabled but have not looked into it. I don’t think this will be a huge problem as I don’t drive my truck that fast normally, I was just doing some pulls to get some ideas on how it felt. I think the flashing caught me off guard more than anything. When I see red or orange colors flashing more first thought is WTF is wrong.

I'm pretty sure that "Speed" thing can be cut off. There's the ability to set all sorts of limits and ranges with the iDash gauge that will warn you if you go over, or if it meets whatever criteria you set. There is an iDash Facebook page where you can get answers to your iDash questions from Banks employees in short order.

THESE look pretty cool, i have had a 15 and currently a 2017 and both had the afe scorcher on them and they just cause check engine lights so i had to remove them and the towing performance was just about nothing.
COULD ANYONE suggest where to buy one of these. thanks

GOT THE thing installed, pretty easy (about the same as a scorcher) and while not towing its pretty impressive and noticable, tons of data and features. have to admit tho, i prefer the edge cts2 screen, banks sent me an obd2 splitter so i can just use the cts as a data screen and the banks derringer for the extra power but they dont seem to want to work off a splitter.
while towing (18k pounds) it seems to eat more fuel and i can maybe get 1 to 2 more mph pulling the hills so not much while towing a load on level 3 but it definitely increased the smiles while not towing

Im struggling with this system, I like it but feel like I still have the number one root problem I delete in the first place. (Emissions Crap)

I understand not everyone can delete.
I understand not everyone wants to delete.
I understand today's deleting cost more than you will get back.
I understand deleting just is not for you if you buy a truck every year to two years

But I hope this branches out more tuning like this to beef up emissions tuning to promote better emissions equipment. Hell even aftermarket emissions equipment.

So what are your thoughts on the above?

I'm sure it can be done. You can buy "high flow cats" for gassers, so why couldn't they make a "high flow dpf" I suppose. It would probably be ridiculously expensive though, look how much a stock dpf costs, imagine what a company could charge for an aftermarket dpf? In the end, it probably won't be cost efficient to do that.

Until the EPA rids the world of delete tunes at least...

Love the concept, watched the video. I want to delete so this wouldn’t allow that I’m
Guessing? Biggest concern is he doesn’t address heavy towing. If towing at max gross what do they consider safe? Was not adequately addressed

I watched two of the 20 min videos, good stuff. I think the theory is that because it’s a smart unit unlike any other out there that it pulls it’s additions back when engine parameters get high. So on heavy towing it reverts itself back to stock. This is unlike any other flash or plug in tuner, those do not adjust so than you have to differentiate between performance or tow or stock. The Derringer plays the part of all three. IN THEORY. But then they give you power level options so I dunno lol. Gosh dang this thing cool but i don’t know if it’s worth dealing with DEF fluid the rest of my life lol
