6.4 pushrods in a 6.0? Smart choice, or bad idea?

Since I'm going to be pulling my heads for new gaskets and studs soon, I started looking into replacing the pushrods while I'm at it. I'm a little confused about the shorter (.047" shorter) 6.4 pushrods. I've seen posts where some people say that Ford made the 6.0 pushrods too long from the beginning and the 6.4 pushrods are the fix. And I've seen other posts where guys are saying that going with the shorter 6.4 pushrods will make your hydraulic rollers pump up more in order to take up the slack and could cause some other issues.

On a motor with around 200K miles on it......what's the real story on the 6.4 pushrods? Should I go heads and install them, or just leave the stock 6.0 pushrods in there? If I do need to install the 6.4 pushrods...are there any types of adjustment that needs to be done (like adjusting preload on gas motor lifters)....or just drop them in and go?

Thanks!

If you go to a Ford dealer and order the "updated" 6.0 pushrods they're the same as the 6.4, Let's ask a dealer... @fordsvtparts ?

Also I presume you're taking your heads to a qualified machine shop to have them pressure tested, magnafluxed, and machined. That machining is part of the reason for the shorter rods.

Ford updated to the shorter length to help save the lifters. Some of the early 6.4s had the longer length as well. It's definitely an upgrade worth doing. They're interchangable, as Ford does no longer offers the longer ones.
At least do the stock ones

The upgraded aftemarket versions tend to be much stronger than any OEM ones out there.
