I have a 2003 F250 6.0 that has went through 3 high pressure oil pumps in the last 1.5 years. Before I do it for the fourth time, I wanted to see if anything else on the 6.0 could be causing the hpop to fail? All three failed the same way.. On the highway slowing down to make a turn.
The first two were remanufactured GB brand name and the last one was a reman. Standard. My friend works at the parts place and he has access to the information about how many faulty ones come back and the stats are pretty low which leads me to believe there is an underlying issue.
The truck has all these parts new in the last 10,000km:
-FICM
-IPR
-oil cooler
-batteries
-fuel filter
-alternator
-Belt
-valve cover gaskets
It's also studded, headgaskets done, EGR deleted, short exhaust (no muffler or cat). It's been pretty hot here lately so I was using 15w40 synthetic(should I use 5w40?). I'm also using the performance tune on a "superchips" tuner. Could the tuner be doing something the pump doesn't like?
I tested the high pressure oil system with my compressor and I have no leaks anywhere this time besides the valley under the oil filter housing (just like the last two times)
Thanks in advance.
