24KR or 22 Platinum??

Looking for real facts how the 24s are doing -drivetrain wise - How they react to the emissions off tunning. Overall quality compared to the 22’s

What engine changes were made from 22-24 stock output engines Not H.O

Changes in the drive train ? Axles ?

The 24 is coming in soon and I want to make sure I’m not completely shooting myself in the foot by selling off the 22.

Input is appreciated!

Hello Jake22, As you'll see below in my truck history I now drive a 21 SRW 4X4, (as all my trucks were 4X's), this truck has been literally problem free except a few small issues; Had the 10 speed trans re-flashed per an STB to better the downshifting, otherwise no issues with this trans, had the driver side rear door lock system repaired, and the back up camera seems to get water in the lens and fogs up when power washed, otherwise, no issues. I've installed the BD Accelerator system which helped the lag on power feel by a huge amount - and is adjustable, didn't really need rear air-bags but it does help in keeping my headlights out of the eyes of oncoming traffic better when towing, and lastly, had my Ford dealer install the S&S DPK (Disaster Prevention Kit), at a great price, and follow all of the maintenance prevention positives of the fuel system as discovered on this Forum. ........... Love this truck!. I've purchased most the these trucks from our local Ford dealer, of whom I have a very good re pore.

On purchasing a new 2024 I don't have a lot of new information, but did have a have a conversation with my Ford dealers Service Manager, who has taken care of me on maintaining my trucks. Concerning the 24's -his statement is as follows: "I don't recommend the new 24's as they use approximately twice the DEF as the previous models, I suggest you keep the 21 you now own".

Jake, I would you research this item to see if it holds true, as I would indefinably not want to use twice the DEF as I do now, which is very reasonable usage. Heavy-Go and Ford Doctor, among others, would be good sources to offer help on the 24's from this forum, best, R

Who Is this Ya-Hoo? I'm 76, retired General Contractor in 2013, then drove Haz-Mat for two years in North Dakota (for the fun of it, and great $), and am a disability retired Firefighter (1978) operating Engines and Truck Companies. Own a ranch in Colorado (going on 37 yrs.) and use my trucks here for hauling large construction trailers, ranch & pleasure trailers, 4 horse pull & 8 horse Gooseneck, 10.6' slide in Big Foot camper (1999), 15K Fifth Wheel (2017), and 12K jeep trailer, among others. First new Ford F-250 was a 1973 loaded 4x4 (approx. 250K miles), a 1982 (approx. 35K miles -business downturn), 1999 loaded 4x4, 16 yrs. - 311K miles (original clutch when sold - great truck, but going deaf!), 2015 F-350 DRW (approx. 24K miles) temporary truck waiting for the 2017 revised model yr.), 2017 F-350 DRW 4x4 (20K miles, felt left out of the "Put DEF in the fuel tank Club, so I joined up, but it wasn't as much fun as I first thought?!), replaced w/ 2019 DRW 4X4 (approx. 24K miles), replaced w/ 2021 F-350 4X4 SRW (sold Bigfoot slide in, bought 30' Fifth wheel, no longer needed dually) currently 38K miles, still have this one, hope to pass on before need to purchase another truck?! Beautiful wife of 40 yrs. (length not age?) and No Kids (so we get to play a lot).

PS. I'm new at moving around Forums so please guide me if I make an evil protocol error? Thanks, CowboyRick

When I went to dealer about 2 months ago to buy trans filter and fluid for my 19 the service guys were all saying I’m lucky (after I complained my trans filter and fluid was like $400 plus lol). They were all saying I should count my blessings that regular trans fluid changes were my only expense because they said all the 24 SDs were swamping the service center with trans issues. Something about how they shift to much in 1-4 and wearing those clutches out. That’s first hand info not something I heard or read. I put zero effort into fact checking it. This is the last diesel truck ill
Own so I didn’t care to investigate more

And oddly enough I have yet to see a single 2024 Super Duty in for any transmission concerns and we sell a lot. "Swamped?" Really?

It’s two years brother. Same motor and trans. Ford.com be best place to compare specs and doubt anyone on here going to do it for you. Only you can decide if it’s worth it. To most of us it would not be, but every situation is different. In this day if I own a good truck I’m keeping it. Can’t assume newer is better anymore. Lots of variables.

The 2022 is more extensive and expensive to fully delete than 2020-2021 and 2023-2024. Data source: The Diesel Dudes in Canada. The 2022 is slightly less capable than the 2024 though the AC works and it doesn't look like aGM clone. A clean and low mileage 2022 will cost 25% less than a new 2024. I'm keeping my 2022 F-350 SCLB Lariat 6.7 until I die. I'm selling my 2024 Nissan Versa as my commuter/errands vehicle and ordered a 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid AWD w/4k tow.
