Hello Everyone,

I just completed my first fill up and calculated my MPG at 16.2. This was after driving mostly highway miles at 70-75 MPH. I had the truck in Eco mode most of the time. I was expecting the fuel economy to be a bit higher based upon my research. Am I being unrealistic? Please advise...

Regards,

John

Is this with the absolute brand new? I may be misinterpreting others comments but I believe mileage is pretty low on the first few thousand miles during engine break-in?

Not that its possible with most freeways and highways but try going 65mph im betting you'll see closer to 19mpg esp once you hit the 1000 miles and changed the oil. I would personally change the fuel filter a little early the first time too. Do not forget to run a fuel additive in every tank if possible. The newer generation of diesels the 6.7l uses a cp4.2 fuel pump that relies on fuel to lubricate a metal on metal surface and if you do any research at all you'll see its basically required to run a fuel additive to enhance lubricity of the new diesels.

Thanks Justin0009,

I am researching cetane boosters right now. What do you think about the Motorcraft additive? Will using a non-Ford additive void the warranty?

With my 2016 F350 6.7, I'm averaging 17mpg around town and to and from work. On a trip to Florida we were at 19mpg. I do drive with a light foot and keep it at 70mph max on the short highway stint I do to and from work. My truck has 45,000 on it, and has 3.31 gears. Just my 2 cents.

My high averages for highway trips usually fall between 20 and 22 mpg. If I'm closer to the the 55 - 60 mph range it'll be 22 ish and if I'm running at 75 ish it'll be closer to the 20 mpg number. Around town it'll be about 18. I've towed my son's 19.5' fiberglass boat trailer and we see 15 - 16 mpg most times. A 30' travel trailer gets 12.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the mileage numbers I'm getting. Obviously, if a regen starts it'll suck the life out of your hopes and dreams.
