2019 Delete Pipe vs Full Exhaust

Getting ready to perform surgery on my 2019. I was wanting to order a new 2022 for the 10 speed transmission but don’t want to wait. So I've decided to put it under the knife since warranty almost up. Do y’all recommend a delete pipe or full 4 or 5” exhaust and why? Are there any performance or mileage gains either way? I don’t want a loud and obnoxious drone in the cab but want to be able to hear it if you get on it and make it sound like a diesel should! Any advice is appreciated!

Well besides the above info being very true... to answer the question. If you really want the sound you will probably want a full down pipe back exhaust. What size and type depends on preference. 5in obviously being louder than 4in. I don't see there being any MPG difference in pipes, just getting rid of the emissions will do that for ya. Delete pipe still will sound good and quieter with the muffler but it's cheaper. Whatever you want. I was going to delete a little while back but decided to not, because again, the above info is just super true. Don't get a minimaxx. Or we will see you back online very very soon with a broken truck.

Do y’all mean the support if issues arise with the tuning? I’ve found someone to do it and he just installs a SOTF knob and flashes the ECM so I wouldn’t have an actual programmer. Which I don’t think I really need. Definitely no mini maxx again, didn’t even know they made them for these trucks anymore. That’s what I had on my 2013 and I loved it just wish I would’ve gotten custom tunes instead of canned tunes on it.

If that guy is able to help you if/when there is an issue I say go for it. That is what the previous commenters were referring to. You'd be surprised the amount of people that come here thinking they just buy an exhaust and now the have a "deleted' truck.

adding a bigger exaust will help out the motor though other then just make it sound louder , i run a 5 inch on my 08 and it is not horrible at all in the cab yes if the windows are down but i dont think it is horrible, yes it takes more then adding exaust to delete truck

Yea I had my last 2013 deleted as well so I know there has to be programming done to make it think it’s all still there. He has all the tunes and flashes my ECM and then I have the knob to adjust the HP levels.
Just can’t decide between delete pipe or probably 4”. If go turbo back should I add a muffler?

Why do you want to go turbo back? The down pipe isn’t going to change the noise much and that’s so much more work lol. You’re asking a lot of preference based questions though. If it was me and I could do whatever I want I would do a 5in down pipe back system. Having to keep a low profile I would do the delete pipe to retain the factory end.

My bad. I meant from downpipe back and not full from turbo back! Retaining factory tip would be nice. Maybe it would help fly under radar a bit more then 5” coming out. Just didn’t know if any real performance gains or not buy it. Don’t want to be one of these obnoxious people riding around!

Well as long as your tune is civilized you won’t be super annoying with a 5in. The driver is what often times make a truck very annoying not always the hardware. If you remain civilized you’ll be ok. I end up going into larger towns in CA often times so I just thought it was a better idea for me to have factory tips. If I lived in a real American state I wouldn’t care about that at all. 4in is even more closer to stock so idk maybe a 4in full kit is a good middle ground from stock to full blown straight pipe? If you want to actually enjoy the sound of your motor though probably don’t want a muffler haha. Also which pipes you select makes a difference on the tone of your sound. Some pipes are louder then others.

haha yea if I had to go to Commifornia I’d be scared as well. I’m in Texas so hopefully not as much to worry about. I definitely want to enjoy the sound and be able to hear it just don’t want it to be obnoxious in the cab and annoying. All my trucks in high school I had flowmasters dumped right after muffler and it was great then but I’d never do again.

short of a few county you should be fine in texas , 5 inch anit horrible unless your mashing on it all the time is about it in my mind and experiance with it ran out the rear, i can have a normal conversation in the cab rolling down the road but then again i been used to strait pipes next to my ears for a way to long

I wound up doing a 5” with a muffler. Definitely glad I went that route. Sounds awesome but yet doesn’t drone out in the cab or isn’t obnoxiously loud. Pulled boat to lake yesterday and shift points towing are way better now and has firmer shifts. So far very pleased!

I’ve got airbags on mine, wonder if the 5” would be close enough to the bags to cause problems. I want to go straight pipe with no muffler, but I think I would eventually regret it. I do tow quite a bit, think I would get tired of the noise.
