Just picked up a 2018 Limited 4x4. The truck has right at 36k miles on the odometer. I did a 400ish mile trip running 85mph on I-80. I got 13.5mpg. That seems very low. The truck is new to me and is not tuned or modified in anyway. Is this normal? Should I be check anything that would impact the fuel economy that bad?

SRW or DRW? Possible it was in regen and never completed.

You can also force one with forscan. Though your truck should be fine with that less of miles on it. You won't know it's in regen unless you see it pop up on the dash, and it doesn't tell you when it's done. Only way to tell is your mileage would go back up when it's done.

Your pushing a (around 8,000lb) truck at 85 mph... Your not gonna get the best mpg. even with a tuned/modified 6.7L powerstroke. Even my old 99 and 2001 24v dodge cummins diesels wouldn't get great mileage at 85mph. now say 65-70mph Id see LOW 20s to I think my record of say 22mpg on a long road trip easy in the straight 6 cylinders. But with a V8 even with 2018 technology im betting that's just too fast for "good" fuel economy. I could be just "that guy" who lives in an area with 55,65, and 70-75mph speed limits though too.

I agree.
These 6.7s seem to like between 55-75 and reward you with fairly impressive(for a large displacement V-8 diesel) mileage numbers. The best I got with my 16 was 21.1 highway on the lie o meter.

My 19 isn't bad at all and the lie o meter in it says I'm getting 15.3 mixed driving which is a 3 MPG difference from my 16 long bed 350

Doing 80mph (SD has 80mph interstates) in my 15 nets about 10 and for the egts that's where I am in regen. I've seen low 20's (like 22) average doing 55-65 mph on back roads without regen of course (I hate waiting on warranty to expire before I have a diet). I think that tank I averaged 17-17.5 mpg, about 200 miles at 55-65 mph and then mixed driving once I was back.
Slowing down will greatly improve your mileage. I'd be happy with 13.5 & 85 mph but my state is 70 on interstates and 55 on back roads so I rarely see those speeds for a prolonged time frame.

1. I'd love to be able to run 85 on my trips.
2. I'd love to get 13.5 mpg running 85 mph.

I know I have a 6.0 but as said in previous posts, that's pretty good mileage for a 8000+ lbs truck with a lot of wind resistance and rolling resistance....

Not sure what anyone has told you but I have a 2017 that I bought new. I was told to expect around 18 average driving. I currently have 33000 miles on it and have kept a record since day one on every drop of fuel put into the tank. My avg overall is 13.3 with the best being 17.9. Dealer has checked it twice and says that there isn't anything wrong with it. I don't drive it hard or fast. I usually obey the speed limit with an added 5 miles an hour for long distance trips. Most of my driving is around the Austin area. Good luck in getting something that does increase the mileage but the only thing you might try is to reduce your speed to around 70 or less. That is the only thing that seems to increase my mpg.

My ‘17 cclb srw with 3.31’s gets about 18 at 75mph if I go up to 80 it drops to like 15-16, then about 14 at 85+. But if I keep it at 65-70, I can get 20-21 all day long. My truck has 35k miles stock tires with level kit. Also, in Regen the mpgs drop to 10-13 for about 20 miles on the freeway.

My 2018 CCLWB with 3.55 is normally sitting around 15.9-16.4 with mixed driving - short 7 mile trips with 5 miles at 55mph and 2.5 miles in town driving.

On I90...flat...74-77mph....I get 20 mpg on sustained trips at that speed and not stopping. On flat ground at 60 mph I can hit 22 on the lie-o-meter for sustained distances driving at that speed. Stop and go drops it, as does a regeneration and hills. Going 80 and above drops it to the 19-19.5 range.

Getting 20mpg on a full 40+ gallons of fuel would require a long, flat drive at 75 or below for me. If I mix interstate with stop and go city I am normally in the 17.5-18.5 range depending on the mix.

I am pleased with the mileage from the aerodynamic brick. I am curious what the 10 speed and additional hp/torque will do....

Sweet spot for these trucks is around 1700 to 1800 rpms. I get 17 mpg if I can hold it to that speed but with 4.10 gearing I'm cruising at 65 to 67 mph. Hit 19 mpg once but that was in a 55 mph zone and was for only about 60 miles. Around town I get 15 to 16 mpg which is a lot better then I thought I would get.

I've only done it one tank at a time, but every calculation I've run by hand against the "meter" has been off by .5-1.5mpg. Usually closer if I fill up and drive, but the more shorter trips on a tank the more variation.

I just filled up today, almost same distance since last tank. I don't record and cant verify, but both fillups cost me $50 and took the same number of gallons, :) Hand calculation shows. 16.25 and lieohmeter says 17.8. It suxs it cant be closer, but it's constantly off
and it ain't stopping me from liking this beast! :)

Cruise control and mileage vary by how hilly vs flat. I can allow my truck to slow a little on hills without speeding up to maintain, thus getting better mileage than cruise.

I am running a 2018 F350 KR 4x4 . 3.55 gears. Best I saw was 18.2 hand figured running stock at 65 mph. Put a Stealth module and my mileage went up abot .6 mph overall.
Just went up to a Banks Derringer, my mileage has dropped to 15.4 mpg. The power and response are 20 times different though. Maybe when I learn to keep my foot out of it I will see an increase.
I also have about 34,000 miles on it now. It took till about 13 - 14000 before I saw the mileage go up. I live out in the NW and travel long distances for my job. As long as I can get 16 mpg or better I am happy.
Pulling my 34 ft Toy hauler weighing in at 15000 lbs I average around 12.5 mpg at 65 mph.
I am not going to complain about that. I have driven every Ford Diesel since 1997, this one gets the best mpg loaded and pulling of them all.
By the way My 97 OBS 7.3 is my favorite, 165000 miles and running strong.

Using Fuelly, I can clearly see that fuel consumption is not linear but rather exponential on my truck. Running 60 MPH I can hit 18 MPG or higher but when I go 65, 70 or 75, it tanks to 14 or less (unloaded and running 3.55 gearing). Hauling our RV it's even more pronounced MPG percentage wise. But I don't go above 65 MPH when hauling our 5er so I run 10.5 MPG average there.
