I am in south Texas (Harligen to be exact) on business and had some time before a meeting so I decided to pay visit to the local commercial Ford dealership and snap some interesting pictures of F350 and F550s. I am impressed that the CC F550 has a double C channel layer midship. Also, the same Dana S130L that comes on the F450 pickup. What is crazy is the number of leaf springs on the CC trucks. Even the F350 has a crap load of them.

The front frame sections and steering components are vastly different as well as the rear drive assembly and frame. Here are some pictures I took. The F550 is the one with the double layered frame and the two slits in the frame up front to the left of the brake hose. The F350 has two round holes there instead.

Enjoy

They are both diesels. The Chassis cab trucks have the fuel tanks in the rear along with the filler. You can see both DEF tanks and fillers in seversl of the pictures as it is the midship tank.

^ You can see the "blue" cap and the whole tank in that last picture.

Check out those rear leaf springs. Definitely a different design then the regular box version. I wonder if they ride better?

Ive heard that they have a much much stiffer ride than the pickup truck variation of them.
