Issue is the main engine harness has so many repairs, brittle and burned wires - it would be better to replace.

OEM 5C3Z-12B637-BA harness, which runs $650; is unavailable.

So that leaves the @$200-350 aftermarket harness as the only option - so far.

Anyone used one of these with any luck?

OR....you find a good one that's not trashed on CL, at a junkyard, or a U-PULL-IT and splice in new pigtails if need be.

Thanks.

So in my research, the OEM harness for early 05, EBP plug mounted near thermostat, 5C3Z-12B637-AA, runs @$100-$125 less than the OEM 5C3Z-12B637-BA, for 06, with EBP on FICM bracket. I’m great with wiring, so making an extension for that one plug is no issue.

Are there are other differences? I haven’t found any; but I am tired of being on the internet

The only other difference I can think of is the glow plug control module was rotated around then. The ones prior to 2005 had the connections facing down and 2005+ it was rotated for the connections to face toward the rear of the engine. I would recommend sticking with the correct one for your truck year. You never know what is going to be shorter or longer or not quite a right fit otherwise. It is a pain when you are in the middle of it and things don't line up like they should. I got the correct one 5C3Z-12B637-BA and it still seemed like it was a tight fit just about everywhere. I would also recommend replacing your injector harness while you are in there. It sits just under the main harness and is easy to replace while you have it out, but would be a pain at a later date.
