2002 F250 - Replacing rear leaf springs - can I upgrade to heavier springs ?

I tow heavy and like to know if there are upgrades to the springs now that I am replacing them

I have been told the frame will not support installing F350 springs and the truck is just not designed for it (I.e... frame is not strong enough)

Has anyone upgraded to a heftier set of springs and if so what brand and what description

thanks, Jimi

thats silly talk the frame does not know what springs are mounted and the load the truck hauls is the load it is hauling

now with weak saggy springs or if you did a spring swap

if you have a local spring shop that is the best plan IMO they can establish the desired pack needed and maybe set up a good overload so your empty ride doesn't suck to bad

if your set on 350 springs i would make sure they are actually heavier duty and not just using a taller block

ZMANN - I was told the frames are not the same when moving into the 350 and up series - bad info I suppose bcoz I see that you and others comment the same.

Much appreciate the info. I am also concerned about the empty ride going to heavier spring sets. I will keep on checking before deciding upon a specific st.

thanks.

thank you very much. Once again you have put me on the right track to repairing my truck.

I checked the spring set you suggested.

I have sent SD an inquiry for suggested replacement parts needed to go along with the rear leaf set.

thank you again

No problem, let us know how those springs work out.

I have dealt with SD Springs before
they are mostly a drop shipper. and I had a less than stellar experience and had to go thru Timbren to get my parts replaced that fell out of the box
because they just kept dropping the ball

many towns have a spring shop and many shops can enhance/rebuild your existing packs and add upper and lower overloads

airbags are also an option for helping with sag during towing but not impacting the empty ride
