i have the Vin # and the data plate info and it looks like no code for the axle...

 

It probably has 4.88 gears, 65 MPH will be screaming on the highway. MPG will be crap cause of this. There should be a tag on a bolt on the rear diff cover with the gear ratio.

 

is 2800 rpm at 65 screaming???? i dont know so i am asking

even with the over drive the rpms are high????

i have 4:10s in my E350 it doesnt seem bad... but i do not have a tag so not sure what rpm i am running...

If you're in California check the CARB smog restrictions. Any diesel truck with a GVWR over 14,500 lbs (I think that's the magic number) will have upcoming restrictions and a 2000 year truck will not be allowed on the roads in Cali within the next few years. I don't know all the particulars but you should check into it.

 

i have kinda looked into this and froma friend that sales big trucks i understood is was for comerically own trucks with a 26 GVWR not for private use trucks.....

i will look into deeper thought...

I just checked out the CARB website. It looks like you can drive a 2000 diesel powered F-550 on California roads until January 1, 2020. After that you will need a truck with a 2010 year engine or newer. So it looks like you would be good for another 4.5 years. Then it's time to get the hell out of California.

both not as clean as i would want...

the F550 yep 2500 was 65 MPH did confirm it has 4:88

im still looking for a F350 Duall 4x4 ...

 

There is a beautiful 2011 f450 dually lariat loaded with everything for $25k in socal... has roughly 200k. if I was in the market for another truck... I'd strongly consider looking at it. Back up camera, beautiful front end, nice interior, 4x4, crew cab... not sure if that's over your budget, but for the money, looks like a hell of a bang for the buck.

also looking at a 2008 F550 115k miles its has 4:30 gears... kinda liken this one...

 

Id be leery of any 2011's. That year is the most prone to fuel system issues and valve issues. '12's on up, not near as bad.

 

Sorry for the late reply. I just looked again on craigslist to check back on it and it looks like the ad was deleted. At the price it was listed, I'm sure it sold fast. It was on the Bakersfield craigslist, but was on a dealer lot in Costa Mesa. It was a really clean, stock looking truck. I realize 2011 probably isn't the best year for the 6.7, but all the others I've seen with similar options have been roughly $40k used. For $25k, I strongly considered parking it next to my 7.3. Best of luck in the search, I'm sure you'll find something. From what I hear, there is no way I'd ever buy a used 6.4. Good luck
