Rear end Humming when let off the gas pedal

1992 ford f250. I have noticed a loud hum coming from the rear end when I let of the gas at any speed higher then 10 mph. If I apply a little bit of pressure on the pedal the noise goes away or isn't as loud. I was thinking something is wrong in the differential (ring and pinion) or something else. If it is the ring and pinion, how hard are they to replace and should I have a professional do it or should I just find rear end from the junkyard and swap it out.

Sounds to me like your ring and pinion are not as "tight" as they once were and there is a lot of playing in them now it all points to bearings.......when there is no load on the bearing, when you let off the gas, the carrier or pinion are free to move around.....regardless it needs to be rebuilt and I highly sugguest that you get a professional to do it.....because there are special tools required and measurements that need to be taken like back lash and bearing shimms for the carrier and/ pinion....good luck bud

had the front bearing in my diff go out earlier this week

Sounds like a bearing to me also, had the same problem with a Suburban one time that I used for heavy towing. It was the pinion bearing.
