why not get a fumoto?

Thanks Ianstew, my concern with this is that it could be sheared off. Even though mine is a 4x, and somewhat taller than 2x, I could see that thing being taken off when going rving out in the desert. I wonder if anyone has had experience with that happening?

 

Not sure about that, but I agree with the fumoto idea. If you don't want to go that route make sure to use a new brass gasket. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the plug is to be torqued around 28 ft/lbs. But then again by looks of what you have on your truck you probably already know all this.:doh: What is special about this Cummins plug?

 

Thanks for the kind words, no :doh: needed I believe the correct torque for the drain plug is 44 psi.

 

Replace the brass washer. It's like $6 for a three pack.

If you're familar with the oem Cummins/Dodge plug it has a large flat surface that if torqued too much will break off and the plug can vibrate out. The aftermarket plug that Gary's Cable out of Hesperia, Ca makes is much thicker and has an o ring built in. It also doesn't use the resest square (1/2") idea for removal/install, but a normal 19 mm (3/4") hex head.

I ordered and received the Fomoto valve. It's smaller that I thought so I guess I don't have to sorry knocking it off. Thanks gentlemen!
