well im in the prosses of putting my stacks on and 2 or so months ago i cut all of my exhaust out about 5 in. from the down pipe right where it goes from 3 1/2 to 3" and where i cut it it was right in the coupler. so the pipe is 3" and on the end it is a little bigger so i decided to take off the little stub (what little bit of exhaust that was left) and of corse broke both bolts that hold the factory exhaust to the dp. so what is your alls advise?
i dont have the extra $'s to buy a new dp. so should i just cut the edge off to where it is 3" exactly and just weld the little stub tho the old dp?:dunno:
need to know asap thanx

What is the issue, is your exhaust pipe for the stacks not connecting to the down pipe? What size exhaust pipe are you running for the stacks?
When you say you broke the bolts, do you mean the exhaust clamp U-bolt?

Your posting is confusing with how you worded it. I am just trying to get a clear understanding of what the problem is.

i was afraid of that
for get i mentioned the stacks.
i cut the cat and everything else behind it out
and had a 3" piece of pipe bout 5 in. long
i cut the exhaust (not being able to see where i was cutting) right past the dp. where it goes 3" to 3 1/2" and the edge where my adapter goes 3 to 4 in. wouldnt go over the 3" pipe that comes out of my dp.
so i tried to take the 2 bolts out that hold the dp. to the factory exhaust and they broke of corse
so, after i cut the end off of the 3" pipe that is 3.5" should i just weld it back to the dp?
i took it off so i could cut it easyier
hope this makes a little more sence

Weld it and be done with it. I see no reason why you should not weld it. If you ever change it you will have to get the new DP though. But if you never plan on changing the exhaust then it will be fine. Just make sure you get a nice clean solid weld on it.

If it does not work it is not my fault. It is the guy who welded it that you need to blame.:hehe:
