truck ran fine went down to canadiantire came out and would not start had it towed home seems like it wasnt getting fuel i got a new fuel filter thinking that mint be it filled it up with fuel got it to run for 30 secs or so then it died i cracked a few lines on the injectors and there getting fuel ive noticed my fuel filter is not keeping its prime if i fill the filter up sometimes i can get it to go.
once the truck dies i took the filter off and theres not much fuel left in it seems like its just running off the fuel i put in the filter:dunno: both tanks are over half full

forgot to mention a week before this the truck would start to chug like it wanted to die

Sounds like your lift pump died or is dying ....

thanks for the pic i found the pump. seems like its pumping fuel but maybe not enough presser? when i bleed the valve on the filter i get fuel out should i get a nice heavy stream coming out? seems like its splashing out. how far should the fuel be spraying out?

I always change out the bolts to the pump with a set of studs, makes it easier to install. The threads are 3/8-16, about 2" long stud would work. Getting the bolts back in is usually the hardest part of the job. You will have to remove the alternator and vacuum pump to get to the lift pump easier. I would also look at your fuel lines from the tanks to the pump, any small leak there would give the same issues. Especially check the condition of the rubber line between the steel line and lift pump.

What year truck is on? The one in your pic or is it an older truck. Did you fill the fuel filter with fuel before you tried starting it? You may still have air in there until it cranks for a while. If you filled the bowel and you still have no fuel coming up I would believe you either A. have a fuel line problem, hole the line, old dried out hose, or B. the pickup on the tank sending unit is damaged, either the sock or the end may have broken off. You can try an old trick that I used to find a pin hole in a line, take a air nozzle and put into the tank through the fuel cap with a rag wrapped around it and blow into the tank. If you have a leak, it will show up then.

i put a rubber fuel line on then i filled the fuel filter up full still no go then i pulled the fuel filter off and cranked it and no fuel is coming out from the lift pump to fill the filter up the engine is not sucking fuel from the filter cause the lp is not pumpin fuel idono

Did you cut the plastic line and put the rubber hose on to it? You may be sucking air in around the line, try tightening the clamps more. I've gone as far as to put a shor piece of steel line inside the plastic line before I clamped the rubber line onto it. I've been through this myself, it sucks trying to track this stuff down. Was the pump you put on new?

the pump is bran new. i put the new fuel line on right at the tank twicher thing where it switches the 2 tanks im getting fuel right up to the lp cause it was piising out the line when i put it on the lift pump. then a new line up to the filter all the clamps r on tight. i did some reading on here and i quess the pump has to be lined up with the cam thing or what ever its called but not sure how i do that i just unbolted the old pump and stuck the new one in

on the 10-12 pumps I've changed, I've never had an issue with the cam arm not lineing up on the cam lobe, it can only go in one way. I know it's a pia, but pull the pump off, put it in a vice and pump it by hand to see if it pumping. While it is off, put the fuel line in a bucket if it will reach and put the air to the tank to make sure it is getting fuel. Like I said earlier, if there is any air getting in that line, it will not pump.
