I dont understand how the ficm can cause the no cold starting because after it starts and warms up it will start fine until I let it sit all night and get cold again

The FICM is subject to heatcycling and vibrations from the engine because of its location...and the solder used during the manufacturing process sucks.
The circuit board expands and contracts at a different rate than the solder used, and over time it will develop a microscopic air-gap. When the circuit board expands, the gap is gone (and so are your starting problems), when the board cools..the air gap is there (creating the no-start).
