Thx AD2Liv, I had actually done several searches on the forums looking for guys with heated seat issues and reviewed this one previously. I found one guy, asked the question, but he has not responded yet (that was a couple of days ago, so decided to post my question today). I have been completely through the seats. Pulled the leather off the bottom and back (replaced with new leather on the drivers side). No burn marks, resistance measurements seem good. Pretty much at wits end. I don't think Ford uses this design anymore and now I can see why. May end up taking it to a dealer to check further. Ugh! :doh:Try this thread and this poster;

It sounds like you have a bad heating pad. Typically it is a seat pad that goes bad as it gets the most wear as you get in and out of the truck. You can do an ohm meter check after pulling the wires to the pad. Probably a two wire connector. Should be less than 5 ohms.The passenger seat heater works fine in my truck, which makes my wife happy. But the driver seat is a different matter: the light comes on when the button is pushed, but the seat never heats up. The majority of these posts mention either a light that flashes and goes off, or no light at all, so I'm thinking maybe this problem in my truck is different?
Thoughts?
thx
Not sure if this can be soldered unless it is the lead going to the seat heater. If it is the "heating element" itself, this may be difficult to do. The heating element wire is "resistive" in nature, hence the ability to create heat. (Think of it as a water heater element) I do not know how warm the seat elements get. Cleaning the area to be soldered, applying flux and then soldier would work temporarily. I would be afraid that due to its heating though, this would soften the soldier and the joint would fail again.I took my seat apart and found a burnt mark on the heating element, peeled back the soft material and the wire is black and burnt, but not all the way through the wire is still complete. How do I soldier that, its still together.
