Because the system, if you have ELC, already has SCAs. Running precharged filters will throw the pH, nitrite, and SCAs out of balance.

The ECF4085 is not a pre-charged filter. The pre-charged version is the ECF4088.

Donaldson ECF4085 Is supposed to be the best coolant filter we can buy. It filters up to 99% efficiency at 14-microns and good for 150k miles, but sure is pricey at $52 with shipping....Donaldson ECF4085 Coolant Filter | Filters | EverythingTruckParts.com

I have the NAPA 4069 $12.50 which filters 27 microns.
