Ok guys I recently posted in the 7.3 section about weather a truck was a good buy or not and I got alot of helpful responses but unfortenitly the truck sold be for i was able to go look at it. So now im looking at a 2006 F250 6.0 the truck looks super clean and from what i can tell has been built for reliablity but im no expert so here i am asking again for help from you 6.0 guys. Hes asking 29k which is about 9k more than im wanting to spend but id like to hear from you guys if you think it would be a solid/reliable truck and what you guys think its really worth keep in mind hes had it listed for over 2 months at the same price but i dont think he is in a hurry to sell. Ill post the ad and some pics let me know what you guys think.

Truck is in amazing condition, mild build. Receipts for all. To begin with I bought the pickup out of Idaho from original owner. Truck is ARP 625 studded, deleted, kdd fire ringed heads, truck currently has 205/100 holder injectors that have about 1700 miles on them. Truck has Kc stage 2 turbo.new bullet proof diesel external HD oil cooler, coolant filtration, XDP 225 gear reduction starter, Bullet proof billet water pump, ODawgs intake manifold, bd exhaust manifolds, new stand pipe and dummy plugs. Mishimoto radiator. 6.4 tranny pan, billet shafts. Truck has no rust and has been amazing. Reverse leveled on 35” tires. I’m sure I’m missing a lot. Have all maint records from when truck was new. serviced every 3500 miles, archoil products in fuel and oil.

How many miles and engine hours?

No accidents?

Can you find out who did the work to install the heads?

A lot of nice components (except for the Mishimoto radiator)!

The items below are going to be mileage dependent, but you get the idea:
Brakes, suspension, steering, A/C condition?
Undercarriage rust?
Ball joints/u-joints/wheel bearings all original? Condition?

It sure looks nice and sounds like a decent truck. Just not personally going to pay that much for a 20 year old truck. Personal preference only. Otherwise it sounds like a good truck.

It does sound nice! If parts weren't getting so hard to find, lol.

I can see why he/she wants the big bucks though, but 25k would probably be my top estimate and that would be if EVERYTHING checked out! Hard to get financing on an old truck also, but that may not be an issue here.

Thank you for your feedback the truck has 100,926 miles not sure on the hours. Im not super worried about parts I am a co-owner of a small auto parts store and I've look into the availibility of parts for it(at least the parts i could think of) and it looks like everything is available. I too struggle with paying 29k for it im sure if its as nice as he says in todays market he is probably not to far off. ive thought about offering him 25k but thats still more than i was hoping to spend. I had a nice clean 02 7.3 on the line and had the guy at 16k on it and would love to find something in that range or at least under 20k but everything i see in that range is either rusted out, dented up, lifted alot, or has 300k miles. I know im picky but i also know there has to be some out there that meet my parameters.

A nice truck to be sure, it does look clean. But honestly $29k will get a newer truck, for sure. Down where I am, that truck would be for sale for awhile at his asking price. I paid 1/3 this for an 03 with the 7.3 and 3x the miles 3 months ago.

Honestly in the end, I think it all boils down to what you want and what you feel ok spending. It doesn't look bad at all and definitely doesn't look like it needs much if any work.

I paid 22k for my stock 07 in 2014 with 120k as it sits in the pic. If all checks out, I would be all in, up to $26.5k it's got all the goods already

You always hear people say "you'll never get back out what you've put into it" regarding anything that drives, floats, fly's, or f**KS. However, when you're looking for an item that checks all of your boxes, it's hard to let a few $'s get in the way of a hard to find condition or build quality.

I would sell him on a story of your budget; your significant other will divorce you if you pay more than your mutually agreed budget, or some other "I just can't pay more than X, but I love your item and it would be going to a great home"....

I have an 06 F250 myself of same body style and GOOD LORD do I love that truck lol.

Going under bridges or through tunnels and hitting WOT and listening to that rumble and whist echoing makes me giggle like a little kid, but that being said 29k for an 06 is ridiculous imho! If I was well off I'd snap that up in a heartbeat though ha ha.

If you have the cash go for it, but honestly you can find another not bad truck for 10k and do 10k worth of work to it and end up with the same truck as that one you posted.

Also all you fellas with 17+ year old trucks with zero rust......I hate you 🤣

Looks like a really good, clean truck with common sense upgrades. Also not a fan of the Mishi radiator. It is shiny and pretty though.

That’s no farm truck. Lots of good advice above. Tough call on the price… the used car market was expected to crash. It hasn’t, which is interesting.

Something to consider… I see a lot of very new diesel pickups roadside, hoods up. I maintain contact with a few extremely knowledgeable senior master techs. Emissions and fuel system related problems seem to be the recurring theme. Solutions and repairs are expensive. I like both of our older trucks for the simplicity, comparatively speaking.

With the injectors you mentioned, not sure it would be a good for towing. You can ask the owner about it. THe oversized injectors and large turbos tend to got ot EGTs when put to work towing heavy, like a travel trailer or fifth wheel.

If you don’t want to do tow, its no issue.

I would say if you have an absolute final dollar, I’d stick to but to be honest if it’s clean and you won’t have any regrets if you raise your bottom dollar then I would consider it. I myself, had a bad experience where the truck checked out at first appearance only to find out 2 weeks later there was blowby on the #4. I paid $21000 for a 08 F250 6.4 with 153,000 from a small dealer in Carrollton tx just outside Dallas. I ended up dumping $20,000 into for labor, rebuilt block .30 over, updated parts like ARP studded, Fass system, Hd Alt, hd starter, new front cover with oil pump and bulletproof water pump. Had that run for about 16 mos only to have the head gasket go even with arp studs so back to the wallet, this time the heads were machined again, o-ringed, new gaskets, new turbo, new intercooler and piping (non mishimoto) new ac clutch, new power steering pump, new heat/ac coil in cab, and odawg intake. I’m at about $10,000 this time around but overall I’m 31,000 deep into a truck I bought for 21000. I should’ve pushed it into the lake and called it quits but im
Still holding out hope it stays good for another 200,000 with everything brand new. Looking back I have regrets but seeing how much I dumped in I feel I should’ve spent a little more for something newer. It’s definitely a Forrest Gump situation

Different animal with different problems but ultimately same decision if they truly want the truck and it’s sound mechanically. I’m not sure where they’re at but in Texas nothing has come down on used trucks. They’re still asking for the farm plus some for a used diesel with over 200k.

Same in FL and SC! You made some wise upgrades to your truck. I’ll bet you achieve the longevity you’re hoping for.

Hopefully the OP will score a solid truck.
