Well i just got my 07 6.0 PS and i want something for a little more performance, mpg, but mostly smoke. I know absolutly nothing about tuners. I'm looking for something that can give me all these things but still be simple enough for me to use. Also not looking to spend alot, less than or around $500
What do i need to get.

Welcome! :thumb: With the SCT we can change every parameter in your truck for what you want it to be. :icon_ford:

How hard is it to use, am i gonna need anything else to go with it. I know some tuners say you need more airflow or a EGT gauge.

Xcal 3 is plug and play, if you don't already have an exhaust and gauges I would look into those 1st, the stock air cleaner breathes good enough and won't need messed with. is your truck stock right now? you can add a tuner to your truck now but it's not recommended, you want your exhaust flowing good, I ran my Xcal 3 without gauges for a while with innovative diesels street tune without any problems but now that I have a EGT gauge and see how fast they climb I was playing with fire, but it can be done if you not beating that crap out of it all the time

Hi Raul,

I hope you are doing well. I disagree. We believe, as long as you are a conscientious driver, running our tunes, you would only need gauges if you tow. Based on my conversations with customers I would say most are conscientious drivers and the ones that aren't will flat out tell you.

That is not to say that gauges are not an insurance policy if you can afford them or the extra money for a monitor/Livewire but a necessity (nod) unless you tow more than 4-5,000 lbs. or live in the mountains, you should be fine.

We don't believe you need an air intake either unless you are going with bigger injectors.

Thanks,
Vivian

The stock intake may supply enough air but why not get a after market intake that you can clean and service without having to buy a new air filter every time?

Hi,

Very simple. Unless you are one out of one hundred that after every 10,000 miles is going to take his intake out, clean it and oil it, then your better off with your 30-60,000 mile filter, which by the way, flows as much as your $200-$300 replacement.

Also, we ran 11.82 with a stock air cleaner and on DJ's 2005 tow truck, he changed it at 70,000 miles.

Thanks,
Vivian

if you went with anything other than a custom tuned SCT you would be wasting your money. i was very leary about getting one until i spoke with Vivian and DJ. they assured me that i would have a great experience with the SCT. they were right........ get the SCT, you wont be sorry!
