I am trying to get it out in the next few days. I am having a bit of a hard time getting to the bellhousing bolts working off my back on my concrete. I wish the downpipe would just come off and out of the way but I don't want to cut it. I'm going back right now to try some more on this. Past those bolts it's about ready to pull out I think.

I bought a replacement 7.3 and it has about 1/3 of the miles on it that my current one does but has a few small oil leaks here and there. The main oil leak seems to be coming from near the back of the valley.

I'd really like to do any mods of gaskets that are hard to do when the engine is in.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Get a good look at the oil pan gasket. If it looks like it might need replacing do it. Dip stick O-ring. Fuel lines in the valley. Fuel bowl inspection. Valve cover wiring harnesses. Inspect the water pump. Engine mount inspection. Replace worn suspension components.

This should be a decent starting point

It may be a fuel line if that's what comes out the back of the head, looks like a compression fitting...?

I actually just found out on my new motor they put it down wrong and crushed the pan so that and the o-ring are for sure getting done.

There appears to be zero leakage on either engine from the rear main seal so I am leaning towards not fixing it because it ain't broke but I'd be happy to have your input on this too.

I am swapping water pump too but I consider this pretty easy to do with engine in as well.

Where's the fuel bowl? Is that the thing that looks a little like a mechanical fuel pump?

Should I change anything gasket-wise on the turbo?

I've heard a lot about valve cover wiring issues but how do you test the wires ? Continuity test?

I'll probably do glow plugs too.
