Hey guys/gals, So Im returning from another deployment for good and am about 30 days out. I want to make an appointment at my local Ford dealer to get the F350 tuned up for the winter and some stuff looked at.

Id do the fluids and such but ill be honest, after this crap deployment I just wanna chill when i get home , lol

Issues:

steering wheel has 30-50 degrees of play in the gear box... something needs to be fixed.

Think i have a cracked bellow.

So the last time i started it was 4 1/2 months ago. I bought the truck in June, from an independence dealer and all he said was fluids were good and the EGR was replaced.

Since I'm not a trusting person.. i want to get the fluids/filters changed. wants the best stuff to change.

Im thinking, air filter, fuel filters, oil change w/ filters, Trans flush. What else am i missing.

Ya don't trust anybody when it comes to this type of stuff. ever.

So I would fill it up with fresh diesel, add some diesel kleen, pull the HFCM drain, and replace the both fuel filters before you start it. This is precautionary and pretty easy to do. I also don't trust diesel fuel these days!

Also for fluids I would do the differentials and brake fluid so you get everything to a known date that you can base your records off of. I change the brake fluid once every year or two since can attract and hold water. Consider amsoil or similar for the diffs. Also unless the coolant looks brand spankin new I would probably do a coolant flush and use CAT-EC1 rated stuff, like Zerex HD Extended.

Coolant Flush to ELC and add a Filter

Should be good to go.

Thinking outside the box, you have to wonder just WHY was that EGR cooler replaced? Did it fail?
If so, your already looking at a new oil cooler, since the oil cooler is likely to have caused the egr cooler failure..
You seriously need to add a monitor/gauges to your truck BEFORE any small issues get to be BIG issues.

Yea, Im ordering an Edge Insight CTS next week and having it ready to go so when i go to pick it up I can plug it in and Log some data on the way home. Ill be pretty pissed if the delta is in the 15* range...

Also, I dont know why the EGR was swapped. The guy didnt give me any info. If i am forced to do a new oil cooler, ill most likely do a BPD setup.

Thanks everyone else for the insight ons tuff to change. I didnt even think about the DIFFs.

Ill have the dealer do a coolant flush and the trans stuff. i can take care of the oil, fuel filters/ additives and Diff stuff

Good question. When you said that the EGR was replaced, was it the EGR valve or the EGR cooler?

As for the other things, maybe not the air filter unless it really needs it, but since the cold weather is upon us it may be a good idea to get the batteries tested if you don't know the condition of them.

Batteries are actually Brand New and so is the starter... ask me how I know. SMH


Honestly, I am not sure if it was the valve or the entire cooler. Ill have to get intouch with the shop and ask them. Thanks for the question, as now I am wondering.

Im actually looking at an IPR Oil Cooler now. Mainly becuase Its less expensive and seems to do a good job from all the reviews. Still researching Bullet Proof Diesels oil cooler. Just thought id mention it. Dont want to derail the thread to much.
