Intermittent problems are hard to troubleshoot. Maybe you did fix a connection. Maybe it’s like a starter where you tap it with a hammer when it’s not working and it works, but inevitably the starter dies.

Tough call is whether to replace the part you have on order, shelve the part in case it does go bad, or return the part.

I have an intermittent problem like yours, except when this happens the digital temperature does not light up, so I can’t even turn it on. Almost as if it’s not getting key on power. Shutting the key off and turning it on fixes it. When it becomes more persistent them once every few months, I’ll troubleshoot, until then I let it go.

I suspect it’s a stinking 17 year old relay.
That's a problem on the heater control that is an old problem (search old threads and you can find talk about it). Mine will do that every so often - turn key off headlight switch to manual headlights and off then key back on and all good. Some wierd thing in the system - been doing this with mine for a lot of years (7+ years?)

Same here. I read that fix and thought...........oh come on!. It worked. It happened to mine after doing the heads and having the batteries out of it. Nothing since then though.

Wire wheeled the water pump pulley to stop the squealing when the fan is engaged. Swapped out led fob light bulbs and shortly to do the headlight bulbs. I may be looking for all new headlights due to yellowing of the plastic.

Spending several hours Wet sanding the headlights with with fine than finer sand paper and then spray painting with a non yellowing, UV resistant clear coat will make them better. These are my after shots a few weeks ago.

On closer inspection, You can make out some internal cracking to the plastic, which can’t sand out. I end up doing this every five years.

My front DS window regulator has been acting up for some time. I ordered another one last week and finally installed it.

I bought a powder coating setup a couple weeks ago. Been having fun with it.

coated CAC tubes to match color of truck. Then I did both alternators, oil/fuel filter housing, and hubs.

Thanks. I might have some time to give that a shot first. Not looking forward to shopping for a new set and doing the install.

I have changed window regulators about five times. Has never been because the motor went bad, has always been because the plastic tabs holding the window up broke. They motors tend to be stout.

This is the video I used for headlight restoration.

I changed out the #5 glowplug to get rid a check engine light. It worked. I paid a guy recently to replace #7 injector, and now have a long crank pretty often. My ICP drops to about 10psi right after shutting down, but build quickly while cranking, so he likely nicked a stand pipe o-ring or something. Bummer for me. Cold starts crank for about ten seconds to start.

That was the issue with my Expedition. Never the regulaor, always the clips.
Installed the Weathertech in-channel rain guards, Pretty snazzy and allows me to have a window open for ventilation when I'm smoking a cigar.

What system did you buy? I’ve been thinking about getting one myself.

I’ve been having a minor issue in the last 5-6 months where a warning on the dash periodically would pop up saying “trailer disconnected”. So in an effort to fix the issue, I purchased a new trailer connector and wiring junction box for the trailer. The original junction box had just a bunch of spliced wires all tangled inside this little box. Decided to clean things up a bit and make it easy to add stuff later if needed. After re-wiring everything, still getting the error. So today replaced both pigtail and connector on the truck side.
