Also good possibility fuel suppliers not providing winter fuel. I live in Canada and we get exteme cold and have never had issues with diesel gelling. Coldest my Ex has seen and started is around —22 Fahrenheit, was a week of this temperature. Worked in the Arctic for 6 years - same results with all our diesels.

Agree with above good idea to use the additive as a good precaution.

Mainland Alaska needs no additive......southeast can be a different story as they'll get fuel from Washington state at times. The only time I've ever had gelled fuel was in Ketchikan with an old 6.2 GM. Luckily they started blending our fuel as winter blend year round. Anyone know if #2 is available in Anchorage?

I am restoring my headlights with wet sand with 400 grit, 800 grit, and 2000 grit, followed by non-yellowing UV resistant clear coat, and then Canberra wax.

This will be the second time. The first time lasted five years.

The weird thing is my 2003 SD headlights have never fogged or yellowed. I don't know why; I've seen other SDs with the issue. But they are sand pitted from road sand.

Our other family cars, including our Lincoln LS, Acura MDX, and Ford Edge, have been restored for years. I do what ChisSki just posted, and for the UV clear coat, use Glasweld's Gclear. It's expensive, so the newer kit's products may be more economical. But Glasweld sells pro kits that detailers use. I never needed to buy the tools as I have most, except you need a UV lamp to cure the material. So I do this on a sunny day, which has worked well. I get a little more than five years, but buying even a small bottle may not be worth it to many. But I do not only our cars, but our offspring and grandkids.

But the price was justified only with the LS HID housings. When you could buy them, they were over $1,000 each with a good Ford discount. Back then, many used typical paint clearcoats that did not work well.

I was looking for a recommendation for a UV coating aside from spray paint. Perhaps five years from now I’ll try griswolds.

This time I redid it for sand putting with very little yellowing. I am using the Canberra wax this time and will retouch it up in hope of lessening the sand pitting.

Some of these newer ones may do the job. It's definitely been some time since I got the product I have.

I didn't include a link to the company earlier; I'll do it now. It's not a retail-based site; they market to the pro detailers, and I spent some time on those forums back when my paint was good. 😂

Did my oil change today along with cleaning the map sensor, nipple and put a temp hose until the one I ordered from Ford comes in (Tuesday). The old one was hard and cracked. I also noticed thru the crack that old hose has fibers or webbing, so not sure a normal hose would last like oem.
Thought I‘d put a picture of the after sanding painting and waxing the headlights and fog lights.

The fog lights had been particularly bad.

Will never get as good as new because of the microcracks in the plastic. This photo may show it:

None the less, much better.

I have been searching for some replacements for the headlights. Wife is use to the LEDs in the newer cars and when she drives the Excursion it’s to dang dark.

I kick myself for not taken up the owner of Vleds offer to load the Excursion out with all LEDs from his shop.

Now I’m trying to figure out what to order.

I have not driven with these, but I installed these and they have a fan and are easy to install and clock. Also these will only fit in the OEM housing.

The being easy to clock is important otherwise if it’s pointing the wrong way they are dark.

Look at post 3763 in what did you buy for your 6.0.

Another option fan less and no clocking

Mine was involuntarily reappropriated.

I dropped my 2006 off at our town's local Diesel / Truck shop on Sunday. They were going to put a new front end on the truck. Replacing EVERYTHING.

I'm supplying the parts. They're doing the labor.

Got a call from them today. Is it ready to pick up?!?!

Nope! The truck was stolen.

First time I have had someone else wrench on a vehicle for me and the ****ing thing gets stolen. Go figure!!!

I have more questions than answers right now. I wasn't able to field their calls, my wife took care of all of that while I was busy with work.

I'll post an update on this. Eventually...

To add to the Truck Saga: my dad was in our 2016 F250 not long ago and was involved in an accident on the Interstate. He's (by and large) OK, but the truck was totaled.

I guess a Forum Signature Update is in order.

All I have left is my '86 IDI. At least it's impossible to crank that and not have a smile on your face!

Wow! That is a tough break. Hopefully you get compensated properly!

Direct replacement to LED bulbs - these are great! I just put them in and they didn't even need re-aiming - I didn't expect that. Amazon purchase.

SEALIGHT H13 9008 LED Bulbs 14000LM Dual Hi/Lo Bulbs with 400% Brightness Cool White Plug and Play, Quick Installation Halogen Replacement, Pack of 2

4 small screws (7/36" socket) for the housings. The same for the top of the grill as the assembly will catch when trying to remove it. You will probably have to loosen the 4 bumper bolts (18mm) to get to the lower screws. Complete plug and play! Total time about 15 minutes.

Left work on Sunday morning (cold as hell) and noticed my blower wasnt working. When the sun came up I checked the fuse (it was good). I then took the blower motor out and ran 12 volt through it and the motor spun. At this point, I assume that the blower control module is bad. I ordered a new one, but then I get in the truck this morning and the blower motor is working fine. What am I missing???

I would guess that when you disassembled to check the blower motor, you reassembled a bad connection correctly!

Intermittent problems are hard to troubleshoot. Maybe you did fix a connection. Maybe it’s like a starter where you tap it with a hammer when it’s not working and it works, but inevitably the starter dies.

Tough call is whether to replace the part you have on order, shelve the part in case it does go bad, or return the part.

I have an intermittent problem like yours, except when this happens the digital temperature does not light up, so I can’t even turn it on. Almost as if it’s not getting key on power. Shutting the key off and turning it on fixes it. When it becomes more persistent them once every few months, I’ll troubleshoot, until then I let it go.

I suspect it’s a stinking 17 year old relay.
I'm thinking of shelving the module and just waiting to see what happens,

I’m starting to think you need to have spare parts on hand anymore since they’re getting harder to come by as these trucks get older.

Ain't that the truth. I have to search for and order most everything.
