It's been raining and cool this weekend so my outside projects got put on hold. Worked in the shop and yesterday I installed my camper tie-downs for the new-to-me slide in pop up camper. I also installed my B&W turnover ball.
Thanks, yea it's been tough. Staying at the in-laws has been a blessing but also difficult. As far as the truck is concerned, I'm also going to do the coolant flush and put the CAT coolant back in it, in fact my next purchase will be those drain valves to put in place of the plugs. Do I really still need a coolant filter after all that you think? Also, I was curious about the blues spring upgrade. I'm assuming this goes in where the filter is?Good for you, that's a nice looking truck and by the looks of it, it was taken care of. I am surprised the STC wasn't updated but not unheard of.
Change the coolant at the same time. I drained mine and pushed out what I could by flushing water through hoses under coolant tank. Pull both block plugs too. Then pulled thermostat and filled with water and cup of Cascade liquid dishwasher soap. Took for a 30-40 minute drive and then drained engine. Again pulled both block plugs. I then put a 3/4 hose into bottom hose and started engine and let it run. Water coming out of upper hose and block plugs. After a 15 minute run I drained it as well as possible.
Put everything back together and filled with distilled water. Idled engine 5 minutes and drained. Repeated three times then installed new Motorcraft thermostat and Cat EC1 coolant.
I also put a IPR coolant filter on my truck. I went with the oil cooler manifold for it and it is a work of art.
Once you update the HPO system and get the Gold coolant out of it you will be in good shape. Last thing I would do is the blue spring for the fuel pressure. It will keep fuel pressure at 60 psi. Which is what the 6.0 injectors like and need.
Good Luck with it.
Sorry to hear you went through a flood. Not fun, my uncle did and boy did we have work to do back then.
Ford dealer, I heard the aftermarket were prone to fail and not much cheaperWhere did you buy your parts?
I honestly don't like those valves because they restrict the flow out of the holes. I just pulled both plugs and left them out. Then I shoved a 3/4" hose into the lower hose and opened faucet wide open. It totally flushed the engine. When engine is running the water blows out of the block plugs. Especially when you rev it up.Thanks, yea it's been tough. Staying at the in-laws has been a blessing but also difficult. new Pyle touchscreen headunit with Navi.
well, i got my refund on the remanufactured Pyle unit and the no name one arrived, it works great! a word of warning though... it is larger than double din, so if someone else gets one of these, dont even bother buying an install kit, its useless (other than the wiring interface).my head unit arrived DOA, so i returned it and bought a similar Chinese unit... fingers crossed!
Which unit did you go with?this unit cost me $129.99 shipped and it has am/fm, CD, DVD, bluetooth (for music sharing and handsfree phone use), backup camera and GPS navi included. it looks decent too.
Do you have any plans for mounting the tablet in your truck?Bought a Samsung 7" tablet to run my Torque Pro app on so I can see what is going on with my engine!
Yes, I was going to get one of those inexpensive mounts with the suction cup for the glass.Do you have any plans for mounting the tablet in your truck?
Gotta like the government employees who can't read and interpret a regulation. After the lady at the license office insisting I need emissions I finally got everything taken care of and am legal for 2 more years

My bad, I meant :Bought this. Intercooler will have to wait for a while. Difference a coma or period can make. Lmfao!Ummm, that pic is not an intercooler. Hopefully, just a bad link.
Yeah I don't even know if my intercooler is all that bad but I assume it's never been changed. Now my boots on the other hand are leaking and crappy.Gotcha. I started to comment on one of your earlier posts, that I'd get the boots first and then get the intercooler. Would suck to put in a new intercooler and still have leaky boots.
