Losing coolant out of the degas bottle, slowly but surely. Replaced cap. Same problem.

First: Where can I get a pressure tester to make SURE before I drop a wad of cash?

Secondly, I'd love to do this but I simply don't have time. Working 50-60 hrs/week, going to school at night for my Masters degree, and the GF pretty much leave me no time to even sleep :tard:

I'm not seeing any abnormal temps; oil cooler replacement, EGR delete, and ELC coolant from a year ago seem to be treating me very well. Deltas are 2-4* in normal conditions and I NEVER see over 7* when driving it like a race car.

I do have some cold stiction issues as well, been adding AR-9100 every oil change to help with that. Goes away completely once oil is around 120*.

Obviously I'm not going to do all this and not upgrade a little bit at least.

I'm thinking my parts list is as follows:

ARP Studs
Head Gaskets
Exhaust Manifold Gaskets
190CC Warren Injectors
MTW Hybrid Turbo w/10 Blade Turbine (Want that whistle haha)
4 Gallons of ELC
4 Gallons of T6
Oil Filter
Fuel Filters

What else? My oil cooler is fine. Or should it be changed anyway? EGR is gone. STC fitting is upgraded. Blue spring is done. I know there are some various gaskets etc I am missing, I want to bring my own parts to make sure I have all OEM stuff.

I'm trying to get a financial picture right now as a worst case; obviously, I want to check the pressure first.

Found it, looks good I'll get on that. Have a call in with the local shop recommended to me by some buddies with 6.0's, they will have a labor quote to me today.

Rethinking the injectors/turbo - may go 155/stock and a Powermax? Whats the best way to talk to Jesse Warren? I don't see those on his website. And if I got a Powermax, what could I expect to get for my stock turbo that is in great condition?

Also have had a bit of an intake leak due to a stripped bolt hole on my intake manifold where the elbow bolts up to it. Just ordered a used but cleaned one off eBay for $100 shipped.

Only about 127,000 or a little over. Been tuned (SRL + Atlas 40) since about 101,000.

You should take that intake you got off ebay and get it ported while you still have the old one on your truck.

Here is my degas bottle after a couple weeks of not cleaning the spots off and about a month of not adding any water/coolant. Thoughts?

I wouldn't go with the PowerMax if I were you. Been there and done that. I went with an MTW stage 1 to pair up with my stock injectors. You might try a stage 2 from MTW, who is a site sponsor. There are other options out there as well that are better than the PowerMax. I'm in the same boat in that mine is puking. I'll probably just drop it off with BulletProof Diesel since they are local to me. :thumb:

I agree with you there. It was not my first choice. I like it now, but it took a long time to get to get it to where it is today.

Just realized I actually have an Ashcroft 0-30 PSI pressure gauge that I was going to use to build a pressure tester last year and never did, will go get some hose and fitting this afternoon and get to work! Crossing my fingers.

Got quoted $3,368 for OEM everything and ARP studs with a 2-3 day turnaround, with T6 and CAT ELC of course. They said they wouldn't charge any extra for installing the new intake, turbo, and injectors either. 2 year unlimited warranty.

However, I may just get an 03 turbo...seems a more cost effective solution to me wanting whistle and I can sell my turbo for almost what one of those would cost. I don't race the truck. Still would do 155/stock Warrens because hey for an extra $50 why not if it needs injectors anyway.

that not to bad a price at all i have heard price over 5000 in some places
Well this is without an oil cooler or EGR delete since I already have those and my deltas are perfect for a stock setup even after 25k miles since replacement so I'm good there.

Id budget about 1500.00 extra whether they do it or you do it, just for worse case scenario......

That's a good price.

Make sure whoever it is, that they are sending the heads out to be magnafluxed, flow tested, and decked.

Might be extra for that...

If they don't send the heads out, then find someone else...

They have a machine/head shop in house. They mentioned all those words before I did over the phone. They have a guy whose sole purpose is lifting cabs and replacing 6.0 HG's. He even mentioned blue spring, updated STC fitting, running T6, etc. Made me feel pretty damn good about them to be honest. Manager told me that he has had 6.0's come in early in the AM and the owner has picked them up when they got off work after 5 PM.

Good deal then.

How about updated stand pipes, dummy plugs, and STC fitting?

Those should be done while they are in there...

STC fitting was done when I had the oil cooler replaced a year ago, new HG's come with stand pipes and dummy plugs right?
