I am planning on installing my Viper on my truck, and want to be able to use my keypad to arm and disarm the alarm since I frequently am using it to get into my truck when I just need to get something real quick. I was thinking of using it's Power Lock and Power Unlock wires from the VSM, and pushing those to a relay that actually triggers the lock/unlock and at the same time grounds the "Factory Alarm" wires in my Viper. Would this work, or is there a better way, or am I wasting my time?
Also, I can't find the DirectFax document 1094 and don't have access to my friend's directwire account right now to try and get it form them. Searching the net, I see a lot of people saying to just pulse the ignition to wake up the VSM. Since I have a diesel, could that cause problems down the road with things like the Glow Plugs and the pumps etc? My gut feeling says to find that damned document and just deal with the diodes etc it says to do, but since you guys know our trucks better than I do, I want advice.
