I have this vibration at 45mph, It has been going on for a few months, 2 different dealers said it was the continetal tires, and once I replaced them the vibration would go away. I have now replaced the tires and I still have a vibration at 45. Does anyone have any ideas????

This is a "normal" condition for certain trucks with the tow package. There is a TSB concerning it. Mine does this exact same thing, but I haven't wanted to take the truck down to get it fixed...

Vibration/Hop at 40-48 MPH, Truucks with Trailer Hitch:
Some 2005-07 F-Super Duty trucks with long wheel base (over 156") may exhibit what is described as a hop on smooth or coarse road surfaces. Although Ford conciders this to be characteristic of trucks with a GVW of over 8500 pouns, some drivers may be more sensitive to the condition. There is a damper kit (P/N 5C3Z-5D008-A) available to correct the hop under the described conditions. It will not correct shimmy, harsh ride or vibration after hitting bumps. TSB #07-5-11.

You might want to check your center bearing on your driveshaft. I pulled mine off and bolted it back square like I thought it should be, but it should actually be caulked a little bit. When mine was bolted in incorrectly it vibrated wicked bad.

Rick,
Welcome to the ORG! Since you are lifted, yours is likely a carrier bearing shim problem.

thanx for the welcome

i just bought my truck about 3 mo. ago and ran into powerstroke.org. i've been reading the forums here since and i must say that the ppl here are really cool and seem extremely knowledgeable. this is my first diesel and full sized truck i've ever owned, and i must say i absolutely love it. i've had a 97' nissan hardbody for 11yrs and wanted to go all out cuz the wife and i would like to get a trailer in the near future. i don't have a clue on diesels but love reading the forums cuz thats how i learn. sorry for hyjacking and rambling. so how can i fix the vibration problem im having?

Try running faster and coast back down through the vibration speeds and see if the vibration is the same. You might also try accelerating above the range and pop into neutral and coast back down through and see if there is a difference. If there is I would suspect driveline problems somewhere.

krazee, tried what you said, put her at about 60mph and let it cost in drive down to 50 (vibration speed) and it did still vibrate. took her back up to 60 and drop her to neutral and coasted back down to 50 and she still vibrates...tried several times and got same results. any other ideas?
