if its before the pump it is just vacuming it into the mix, if its after the pump, your container that you are drawing from needs to be at the same level as your venturi. I just have my methoxide drawing in before the pump, and it seems to work fine, plus running it before the pump, it agitates it, for a better mix anyways.

I have my carboy plumbed pre-pump and it sits on the floor and works just fine. If you can control the rate that it feeds the methoxide in say 10 mins to feed it all in, then you are good to go. As I said above pre-pump lets the impeller of the pump give its first good agitation.
