I'm looking at buying an '08 6.4 with the XL package. It has manual windows, locks, and vinyl seats.

Is the wiring built in for things like heated seats, power locks, power windows, etc? In other words, if I found parts at a junkyard will it be straightforward to upgrade to these options?

Hopefully it won't involve changing dash harnesses and stuff.

Just curious, why didn't you opt for the $800 option when you bought the truck? Or was it one just off the dealers lot?

no it is not simple plug and play... there is a lot to go into it... aftermarket locks and windows will be your best bet... and if you buy katzkin seat upholstery you can opt to have heated seats in those... IMHO this would be the best way... and then a carpet kit from somewhere like LMC truck... i was tackling this same thing with one of our project trucks and opted to keep the manual windows and im just gonna get a car alarm with the power locks feature.... its a royal PITA just so you know

I'm buying this truck used and getting a decent price. I did not buy it expecting to put all of this in myself to save money. I'm fine with the truck exactly as-is. In fact I want the vinyl floors.

I just want to know if anyone has done this and found it to be easy or hard. In many cases with other cars/trucks (heated leather seats for example) the wiring is all there, you'd just need to get a full set of seats and switches and install them.

In any case I may pull the door panels and take photos to compare against the equipped truck.

again, aftermarket kits are your best bet as they are not wired for it... I just tried this on one of my trucks....

Advice is right on track More than likely aftermarket upgrades will be easier. But some Ford parts will just bolt/plug in.

What configuration is the cab?

I would just change out the seats. All that electric crap is prone to breaking. Them roll up winders will be rolling up and down for a long time :thumb:

You might can find a wrecked truck to salvage some things out of it.

IMO I would switch out the seats and be done with it. Maybe do an aftermarket power conversion.

the nav is a different story... radios all together are different... most are wired for sirius and nav and all that to make life easy so they dont have to have 10 billion different harnesses for a stereo
