Hello everyone.
I have 2 7.3's an 01 and an 03. The 01 has 271K miles and the 03 has 228K miles. Both are stock except for the longevity mods, new valley seals, HPX FRX and replacement of stock compressor wheel.
The thing I noticed recently is that the 03 when you shut the engine down you can hear the compressor spinning down and slowly come to a stop, very faint but you can hear it. The 01 does not do it. The 03 runs fine, has plenty of power, no excessive smoke. The inside of the housing, fins are fine, no damage and does not appear to have abnormal shaft play. The only difference between the 2 trucks is that the 03 did not always get a cool down before shutting off.(did not have a EGT gauge until now).
I was curious if anyone else has seen this and if it is cause for concern.
I will try to get a sound bite if what it sounds like and upload.
