So I pull into our small town tire and lube shop for an inspection which I have done several times here with our other vehicles. First time since buying the KR.

The whole time I am praying he doesn't eyeball my near bald tires, especially the front pass side when first thing he does is looks under the bed for my exhaust. Pops up and says he can't inspect it. Tail pipe needs to be 12" past the cab. He didn't mention anything about no muffler so I am gonna purchase a 3.5" exhaust extension about 36" long and take it back over there.

Guess I will keep my receipt when I order the pipe printed in the truck in case I get pulled over for over due inspection, 12/2013, and explain what is going on...

It's always something. I am not quite ready to purchase new 5" system yet but didn't want to mess with stock exhaust either!

Doh!!!

That 12" beyond the cab is for your safety!

12" like this. It will even suck in at speed, just like a van, station wagon or boat.

I asked the place I go to here in town and they said on a diesel so long as the exhaust comes out the back they didn't care. a cheap fix might be to get a couple of chain link fence corner post and a good clamp a few pieces of small chain and it should pass. might be cheaper than exhaust pipe for your purpose.

Yeah I am debating the diamond eye 4" but really want the 5" but planned on that later. I can find 3.5" muffler delete pipe from Diamond eye and buy a turn down for it, but it's a bent pipe. Another option is a big 3.5" clamp band, 4ft 'stack pipe' that would give me the turn down look right before the axle and would be straight without bends at a $60-70 cost with fittings....

Spend a little now or settle for a 4" kit for 250 or really splurge for the 5" kit.... Decisions...

Diamond Eye K4346A 4" Aluminized Steel Turbo Back Exhaust System w/ Off-Road Pipe 2003-2007 Ford Super Duty 6.0L

Is this what I need? Off road pipe I assume is cat delete but comes with a muffler? This is the set up I want if so.

Thanks!

Scored the kit I mentioned above for 240 shipped! :D

This way I can swap in the cat for inspections and later, if I want, I can order the muffler delete also and run 4" straight.

This will do for now. I hear the clamps are not great so I may get some 4" band clamps to make the install cleaner... Or just buy a small welder! :D
