I have a 7.3 powerstroke and decided too put a new exhaust on my truck so I got a 6" exhaust with a 7" tip and well I was at it deleted the exhaust back pressure valve but where before I only got white smoke on start up and it went away in less than a minute I have white smoke that takes much longer to go away and every time I hit the throttle it shoots a cloud of white smoke could it be glowplugs not big enough

now my truck is running like **** and glugging bad in reverse and a decent amount forward it drove across town just fine before it started acting up could it be I need a cold air intake or something because I made the pipe so big need to know soon so its fixed for winter

None of that would be a direct cause of what you describe (unless maybe you did the EBPV delete by "wiring" it in the wrong position ;) )

So, something else got disturbed to give you that kind of trouble, no kind of air intake is going to be the cure.

SES light ON? Do you have the right equipment to scan for codes and monitor sensors?

btw... 6" exhaust? not sure what your expecting but,,, I don't see the need unless it's just about "Noise"...

I did do an ebpv delete i just didn't plug the wire in because there was nowhere on the turbo Pedestal to do it at and the 6" exhaust was purely for the noise

Also my code reader dont work on my truck something electronical

Realize though most readers (scanners) don't work for us in these trucks.

My Usual Scanner Advice

If you're gonna keep & maintain the truck yourself I strongly suggest you get access to the special scanner software you need to do it.

To retrieve most of the codes you'll need to help and even do some testing look at the FORscan Lite or TorqueApp (you add an Android device and Blue Tooth Adapter for @ $30) OR the Windoze version with a USB adapter. I like this one for BT Android -> http://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products-34t5-Bluetooth-Android/dp/B005NLQAHS/

Just a few years ago you needed to buy a professional scan tool because our trucks need to have a scanner with a Library containing both the Ford Proprietary AND the Diesel Specific codes in it. Add to that, our trucks are Not, specifically, OBD-II so the Generic scanners the Auto Parts Stores have are of little use to us. But today there are some very good App based tools, that are close to what the pro tools do, for fraction of the cost.

I'm still not sure How you did the EBPV delete. Was it actually removed from the pedestal? When I said "wired", a common thing to do is to take a piece of mechanics wire and hold the butterfly Open (but you could get it wrong and "wire" it closed too ;) )
