idk what you would call it, but last night i was just on a back road driving around. and with all our gas wells here, the access roads always have a lot of gravel that spills onto the roads, and any new gravel road for that matter. i hate it lol. so i try to crush it up and sling it off the road.
ANYWAY i lined up for a sling and hit the diesel pedal. it revved up and downshifted . . . nothin. the only thing that happened was the engine dropped to idle, at 30-40 mph. and all the dash lights that come on when you first switch the ignition to "on" came on too. but it was already on. and moving. and in gear. it just acted like it restarted without turning off.

was just coming home this evening and the truck did the same thing. all power was still on. but the startup lights came on again. speedo and tach zeroed out. tach might've just dropped to idle. and then it was all back

ok SERIOUSLY guys. i really need help now. i was going home last night, in another completely different place choctaw :hehe:, and i hit a REALLY hard bump. this time the truck completely shut off. and i'm tryin to stop with no brakes and it in neutral. used the emergency brake and my flashers and i finally stopped after going through the stop sign into one lane. it was late so there wasn't any traffic. but now i'm thinking maybe CPS? cause i got it done after the recall up the ford house and never had the problem again until last week.

Under the hood in the fuse bank, check all fuses for dirt grime crud and looseness. Same goes for the relays under the dash by your left foot. Sounds like it is either that or a wire that is becoming frayed. Another thing to look for is see if the wires coming out of the dash into the engine compartment are getting any oil on them. Oil bakes the protective insulation off and you good get a couple of bare wire to touch every once in a while. Turn key on and have a buddy wiggle all the wiring harnesses under the hood and see if the problem repeats. Plus it is very possible the is a warning that your CPS (Cam Positioning Sensor) is getting ready to die. See if oil has been leaking on it too. I would replace it if you haven't already done so. In the recall of that sensor.
Yea I figured it was electrical SOMEWHERE.
I'd already had the CPS replaced in the recall. Before that, it would just die or almost die then come back completely randomly. Did it sitting still before with no warning lights or anything. Just dead. That's why I think it may be a connection to the computer.

I had a problem where I lost all throttle responsiveness for a few seconds and it would slow down then finally pick back up again and that ended up being the pedal position sensor. Seems similar but not exactly whats happening to you.
Did it also bring up all the warning lights or just lose gas then come back?

No I haven't found it. Does yours happen when you hit a really hard bump?
Whatever causes it, I'll bet that the PCM just isn't secured fully.

If it happened only once you removed your to put in the chip then that's where the problem is
