Yesterday my truck would only move in idle. The pedal was non responsive. I turned it off then back on and was able to get some diesel to the engine but only for a second or two. The engine light came on and my Edge indicated a P1335 code which I believe is EGR related. I had my DPF removed 8 months ago and used the Extreme tune with dpf delete. A month ago I had the cat removed and went with a straight 4" MBRP pipe. Could this have caused the EGR issue?

sounds like your EGR valve is stuck open due to carbon deposits. Is your truck a job 1? I had the same thing happen to my truck. drove home from work just fine. got home and changed to go to the gym, got in the truck and it kept stalling out and struggling just to move a few feet. I got it towed to the dealer and they said the EGR valve was stuck open and that the job 1 EGR's were prone to do this. This happened at about 10k. Im at 22k now with no problems. The replacement was an upgraded design used on job 2's and 3's. One word of caution, the FORD tool used to pull these valves is extremely prone to breaking. It took 2 weeks and 2 rotunda pullers to do a 3 hour fix for me. Luckily the dealer gave me a loaner so no harm no foul

I believe I have a job 2 or 3. Jog my memory, how can I tell looking at the VIN?

EGR

The dealership replaced the EGR valve. Would the absence of the dpf and cat be a root cause of this problem?

EGR Valve problems were not limited to job 1 trucks, the re-designed EGR Valve (no coolant line) wasn't put into the production line until early 2009.

New design didn't cure my problems (same problems as discussed above)

I just got my truck back from a 2 week stay at my dealer for the EGR issue.

I moved my truck out of my drive way to switch a car in the garage, it wasn't 15 mins, went to start it and it would try to start then die. Would only run about 2 or 3 seconds very roughly then die. Had to it towed to the dealer. Stuck EGR, took almost the full 2 weeks for them just to get the updated parts (EGR and housing). My truck has 24k on it and is job 1 build, with NO tune, exhaust or intake mods.

On a side note while at the dealer they broke my steering gear moving the truck around. They of course replaced it, but told me the reason it broke was because I have 37" tires on it. Whatever, they did detail it inside and out just before I picked it up.

I've been experiencing the same problems, seems like the truck would stall out and no power with a rough idle. I installed an EGR block off plates at the ERG valve and at the lower intercooler. I don't experience the problems anymore. This may be a solution to your problems. Since your truck is performing better and causing more soot to build up in the EGR components it would be something to look into.
