My truck has about 185,000 miles on it, and runs awesome. It's been a great truck, but my fuel injectors are reaching the end of their life. I just replaced my glow plugs, harnesses and GPCM, assuming that's what was giving me some starting issues (also had a check engine light showing a few were out). Turns out it is the spool valves getting sticky. It usually happens on the first start of the day, unless I don't start it until it's in the temp is in the 80's.

I did some research, and figured I'd try some Archoil 9100 before I fork out $1,500 or so for new injectors. I can try to fix them (bunch of YouTube vids out there), but with that many miles on them it doesn't make much sense to start replacing parts (like spool valves) and risk having to do the job multiple times if there are other issues or if I damage an o-ring. I'd rather just replace the fuel injectors as a set and know I'm good for another 15 years or so.

I have read a bunch of posts about Archoil, a lot of them saying, "I tried it, and didn't notice a difference." I don't know that you will unless you have an issue that it might be able to fix or reduce, like a stuck spool valve. It's possible that it will help long term, but I don't think it's a change you'll feel. I added it to my oil last weekend when I did an oil change, and thought I'd give it a few days to try let it get into all of the cracks and crevices.

We have a cold snap right now, it's unseasonably cold. It's been only hitting a low of about 65 recently, but this morning it was 39 degrees outside. I let the glow plugs heat up and it started right up. I was amazed. It seems to work as advertised, and I'm hoping I can get through the winter until I have to replace the injectors, but I know that they've about reached the end of their useful life.

I've experienced similar results. My truck would run like **** until it was hot. I knew it was the injectors but...time and money dictate all.

Switching from Rotella T4 to Rotella T6 5w-30 helped a good bit. Then on the next oil change, I added a bottle of the AR9100 and it ran smoother than I've ever known it to run.

Going for a test drive, heading down a hill near the house, I thought the truck shut off on me...it was idling and running that smooth. Started to get pissed and then I saw the RPMs hovering at idle and laughed at myself.

I'm a believer!

it took me a long time to think Archoil9100 was better than Hotshots but I can only read so many post about what works and what does not before you change your opinion
I now run 9100 about every once a year I am on 170k no isssues
I originally had two injectors go down at 20k ( warranty so no fluids were tried ) but since then no problems knock knock

:ROFLMAO: That's awesome.

How long have you been running it, and when do you plan to swap out your injectors? I've run T6 since I bought it (around 90,000 miles), great oil, but it was definitely giving me the same situation that you mentioned. Hard starting (sometimes just jumbles for a few seconds, sometimes it takes longer) and rough running for the first 5-10 minutes until the oil got warm.

Knock Knock...ROFL!! Pun inteded? :D

i thought the recommend initial dosage was 2 bottles what did you read ?
That's what I thought as well. 2-16oz bottles and then 1-16oz from there. I have heard of guys having results with just 1 bottle though. I finally convinced a couple guys here at work to try it on their next oil change. 1 has a 6.0 and 1 with the 7.3 - they are BOTH believers now :D

sorry
i just edited my post before your reply because I could not back up the dosage info lol

I do not see them spelling it out but I am sure it was 2 -16 oz or 1- 32 oz if you had stiction
then one 16 per oil change from then on ( edit like you stated)

The bottle says for all PowerStrokes, use 16oz of AR9100 (it comes in a 16 oz bottle).

That's what I did, and I'll likely use it on the next oil change as well and maybe plan to swap out the injectors next year.

If I were you, i'd ride the Archoil train as far as it would take me before i'd change the injectors...

I used it twice on 6.0ls once on my 2006 and once on a friends 2005 both situations made a noticeable/testable difference. I did try it for fun on my 7.3l but didn't notice anything. The 7.3ls are not prone to stiction like the 6.0ls though. (at least that i've seen lol). I feel the Archoil 9100 has a very good use for 6.0ls (certain issues of course) But its not the end all for everything. I'll keep recommending it for my light stiction issues at least. Glad to hear a more recent positive experience though.

I ran a bottle of hotshot, cleared my stiction up a bit. At the least the truck was drivable when cold.
I'm now using Triax fleet Supreme 5/40 synthetic. My injectors are much quieter and I can drive it right after start up.
I think (I don't know) that some stiction is caused by cheap oil building up and causing problems. Dissolving this crap is what the revx and archoil are aimed at doing (from my reading comprehension). Once you get the build up eliminated, the injectors act properly again (assuming no permanent damage is done). After this, using a quality oil is going to be imperative.
Some oils are prone to build up, if it was used repeatedly and the build-up started, almost any oil you use will add to it.
I had to pull an injector recently and it actually looked really clean, with no signs of any oil glazing or build up.

When I first got the truck it had some bad stiction issues and tried the AR9100 for the first time and it was almost an immediate change the next day driving. I had been using AR9100 at each oil change and AR6100 at each fill up, but since I’ve just recently done a pretty major overhaul of the motor, I’ll probably only use it twice or so a year. Probably when I switch from T6 to T4 (anybody else use T4 in the summer and T6 in the winter?) Also has anyone tried that new fuel system cleaner that they have? It’s the AR6400-D. I’m hoping it might help with my sluggishness and overboost issue I’m having.

Oil, fuel, and electrical current all run those injectors. Don't forget to be sure you check all those before you pour your faith into a bottle. You got a problem somewhere.

The Archoil helped with the stiction issue, but not enough. I'm still having starting issues, mainly because it's cooling down. It gets chilly here in the winter, so no way my injectors get me through the winter without stranding me when it gets cold. Considering it helped with the stiction, I'm thinking about using a small dose periodically with my oil changes once I swap in the new ones as it must lubricate the spool valves better based on the improved starting.

I ordered the ones from Injectors Direct, not a bad price and rebuilt to OEM specs (including new electrical connectors on top). 2003-2007 Ford 6.0 Powerstroke Injectors | InjectorsDirect.com

I'll swap them in when they get here.
