I am contiplating a swap for a 2002 f 250. I have an auto and I want a 5 or 6 spd manual. I have been looking for a donor truck but have only been able to find 2wd and my truck is 4wd. Can I get away with using one of these I have found or do I need to find a 4wd donor truck?

i would think, you can get away with the 2wd zf6, and then get yourself a set of new/manual hubs, for the front.

edit...isnt your front hubs, manual as well, in case the e-switch doesnt work?

You will need a 4x4 ZF otherwise your transfer case will not bolt to the back of it.

Ya, i didnt "see" that statement from OP. He could however, have the 3rd member, be replaced with the 4x4 one, from a tranny shop?.

Yes but the output shaft is different length, so it would have to be replaced$$$

Local craigslist.

Shipping a transmission would be pretty pricey I would imagine. Would need to find something local so save some $$$.
