I have a 2004 F250SD 4X4 102k mi, with intake, exhaust, and I've noticed a few times before that the tranny didn't kick up to overdrive and the tow/haul light flashes, after restarting the truck the problem would disappear, there were no codes. Last night, I took off from a stop sign and at about 30mph felt and heard a loud bang, then lost all forward and reverse. I checked linkage, it was fine, I have checked the fluid, it was replaced 2k miles ago, still good, no burnt smell. I locked the front and turned to 4x4 hoping to at least get home, no dice. When I press the accelerator, it moves slightly and gives a whine from the tc area. There are still no codes displayed. I have been looking through the threads and have found that it could be either the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid, Torque Converter, Fluid pump, or a combination. I am trying to narrow it down before I pull the Transmission out and rack up storage fees. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to diagnose.

IMO, your trans is toast. If you heard/felt a bang, sh!t broke. Is likely that even if you replaced the broken part, enough metal got into the system to ruin whatever might be left of the rest of it. According to your post, it's been giving you a warning for a while. My advice would be to get another trans (reman, salvage, whatever) if you don't want the truck down long and don't want storage fees.
