Decided to drop the pan and change my filter and fluid. My question is I only got 6 quarts out. Let it drain for an hour is it possible that it was that low and didnt have any shifting issues.

just dropping the pan doesn't get all the fluid out. Sounds like you got the right amount out to me.

I normally get about 7 quarts out, so I'd say you are right on the money.

Yeah about 6 quarts or so seems about right for draining the pan. If you want to get more you either have to drain the converter (assuming it has a plug) or disconnect the rear cooler line (return from the trans cooler) and pump out fluid that way.

When I service my trans I drain and refill the pan. Disconnect the rear cooler line, pump out a gallon, refill the pan with a gallon repeat until I gone through about 5 gallons of fluid. Really easy to do.
