i was told by a buddy of mine that i will probably need a new transmission cooler when i go back out to Missouri towing my other truck.

im getting gauges to monitor the temp seeing how the truck has 300000 miles on it.

do you guys think a new tranny cooler would be of use or should i not bother spending the 200 or so dollars for it?

Another trans cooler is only going to keep the trans fluid colder. It won't hurt nothing but your wallet a bit. I have three on my truck, my trans never gets hot.

I do suggest you get the external filter removed if you have one. They like to clog up, create resistance in the fluid flow.

I have heard that you can use a 6.0 cooler on the 7.3 trucks as a up grade.
