hey guys I have a question. MY family has an 01' 350 duelly, only has 130,000 on the clock, and is on its 3rd tranny. Truck is bone stock but spent its whole life pulling a horse trailer. I just bought an '02 250 with 100,000 on it, and am wondering how to get more miles out of the tranny before it will need rebuilt. This truck is now the horse pulling truck, cause its getting better fuel mileage. My truck is stock except it has staight pipe,(factory pipe, just now muffler ect.) I have noticed that the truck likes to shift gears alot when driving on hilly roads, so I will pull it out of overdrive and slow down some. I just need to make this one last as long as possible ya know. thanks for any input.

change the fluid, and filter every 30k, don't stomp it to the floor, and definitely don't shift from drive to reverse or other way around until you come to a complete stop.

when parking your rig, use the e-brake to hold it in place b4 shifting to park.

get yourself some gauges... your stock trans gauge is very innacurate... heat is the # 1 killer of trans.... change the fluid and add yourself a secondary cooler... the cooling system on the 4r100 suck.. either add a seconary with a fan or upgrade to the 6.0L cooler...

i just added the 6.0L cooler, larger pan and amsoil ATF and i cant get my trans temp over 140 degrees.... it used to get to 180 easily and 200 driving the highway at 70mph

also since your not running a tuner to boost up line pressure... get yourself a shift kit or valve body... if you want to go a step further get yourself a tripple disc torqu converter
