I need some guidance on this! While driving home from work this evening, I made a left hand turn at an intersection, and my truck would not turn back straight! Almost hit the oncoming traffic head on!! I yanked the steering to the right. Something made a popping noise, and the truck straightened back up. After I got home and cleaned myself, I started searching. I'm not sure of the correct terminology, but I believe it is called the lower end track bar axle bracket. Anyway, it is broke in half and allowing the track bar to fall down on the tie-rod (I think?). This appears to be a royal pain to replace. Does anyone have any suggestions where to find a replacement or should I just check with local Ford dealership for this part. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm totally clueless about this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Your best bet is going to be to by an adjustable track bar bracket. Can you post some pictures of the damage so we can see exactly what you are talking about.

The photos are in photo bucket now, but the 3rd spot says html and not url. Is this why it is not copying?

This is a big safty issue. Could become a campaign (recall) if other trucks are having the same problem. I would at least let Ford know.

If you click on the IMG Code Box below the picture that you have uploaded it will copy the link for you ( as if you pressed ctrl-c or Right clicked and pressed copy)

just paste the link into your reply and you should be good to go

there is step by step thread on here somewhere

ahhh beat me to it ya thats looks nasty. it reminds me of what the Previous owner of my truck did to that bracket, he cut it to move the steering stabilizer bracket towards the passanger side to be able to put a longer shock in :(

i should go take a pic for you to enjoy

Smiley abuse! Smiley abuse!:hehe:

You'll get the hang of posting pics. Once you do, it'll seem easy. It's just a little hard (for me anyways) to explain how it's done.

I wonder what could have cause it to break like that? Cause I had a sway bar bracket tab break off on mine and never could figure out why.

To make a long story short, upper track bar mounting bracket = $77 from Ford. Unfortunately, this is not the broken bracket. Lower track bar mounting bracket = $2000 parts and labor from Ford. The lower bracket is part of the front axle housing, and the whole freaking thing has to be replaced. Great design fellas! Anyway, to state the obvious my bad day got a lot worse!
