Okay guys, looking for some direction, suggestions and some real data from the OBS Crew. I have a hotshotting business where I tow 12 to 18k on a regular basis. I have new trucks that pull nice! I also have the old faithfull (95) which is a great truck. I love the truck, just not the power for pulling the hills. I am looking for a power combo to first off give it reliability, possibly as much power as my newer vehicles ( really just torque ). Can this be realistically attained for a couple thousand dollars or is it time to sell the old girl. Truck has 172,000 on it, stock, needs injector o-rings already, has good compression and runs great. To be quite frank I am not impressed with the fuel economy on my new 08 ford but I do like the power. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as the truck is sitting awaiting my final decision.

A friend of mine had nearly the exact same truck as you. F-350, crew cab, long box, 4X4 with a 5 speed. I think he had 3.55 gears and 35" tires. I built him a set of stage I injectors, installed an intercooler, had a chip in it along with a DIY style intake and 3" down pipe with 5" exhaust. He absolutly LOVED the way it towed and he towed pretty heavy with it too. Depending on how you drive it a 1.0 or .84 turbine housing would also make a nice addition. His truck had like 280,000 miles on it when we did all this stuff and had about 320,000 on it when he sold it and that truck is still running STRONG!

What kind of mileage do you get when towing, egt's when towing heavy. How does it run compared to the newer trucks? What would you say all your mods cost you? I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions:thumb:

mine would tow better if it had 410's, but it tows dang good with the 3.55's. On the hwy i can out run anyone else if i want. In the city i have to be careful and not push it too hard stop light to light or it'll heat the trans up with the tall gears. It'll get 10-11 towing and 16++ empty (best was 22.2). mods probably cost 3-4k by the time you count the intercooler, injectors, trans mods, intake exhaust and tuning.
