Looked at some old threads while trying to find recommendations on a supplier for a long block for my 06. I'm normally there your of guy that builds his own stuff, but between work, home, and kids as well as other projects, I'm considering just buying a long block to speed things up. Who would you recommend and why?

IMO, both Asheville and Kill Devil have good reps. KD takes a long time to get usually. I personally would have no issues with either.

Under no circumstances even start to think of a Ford Motorcraft rebuilt motor.

I'll second his emotion on the Ford product.

Ok, both of these builders seem to use aftermarket heads. It's been a while since I've been back in the 6.0 arena, but it seemed like everyone used to have trouble with the aftermarket heads. Am I remembering wrong or are they much better now??

the aftermarket is getting to be the only option since they do not make new OEM heads and the core, rebuildable head stock pile dwindles daily
the aftermarket castings may be from china but good builders like KDD do all the final machine and assembly and work with the casting
foundry to get the cores dialed in

I am not sure about Asheville they were anti aftermarket for a long time
